Bad sound and mic quality on Ubuntu 22.04.4 LTS

Hi there, I have the same problem with my Lenovo W530 and Linux Mint 21.3. Earphones work fine, but the speakers are also low. YouTube has a 2x amplifier on Firefox and VLC player movies work just fine. It is only with some apps that I have this problem.

    Solved Making free space usable

I have found it and can now use the free space on my 1TB external usb drive as well. Thank you all for your assistance.

    Solved Making free space usable

The usb drive was cleared and formatted by the cloning action. There was no option to do anything else with it.

    Solved Making free space usable

Mounted or unmounted makes no difference to df -T. When I run Linux from my internal SSD, it sees the usb drive as a 240G drive as cloned from the SSD. I would like to use the 760G just like any other disk, and when I run Linux from the usb disk if required, that 760G must be visible as well as...

    Solved Making free space usable

Me again. I have managed to clone my existing Linux Mint system on mu 240G SSD onto a 1TB usb hard drive. The disks app shows the whole drive with 260G being free space that the OS does not see. I have installed the Gnome disk utility, but cannot see the external drive to make the free space...

    Sound and display

I am glad spectacles work for you. In our part of the woods we have them as well. I have something that spectacles do not correct any more which makes small print difficult to read. Thanks for the advice anyway.

Installing a Pantum P2200W laser printer

This time around my Pantum laser printer does not configure, and the software installer tells me it has no driver for this printer. I downloaded the driver from the Pantum website and got a Pantum Ubuntu Driver V1_1_106.zip.How do I go about installing this driver and can I put it in the Linux...

    Sound and display

I am well aware of the ctrl+ and - settings, but as I have indicated, they do not increase the heading of the web page, the bit which shows you which tabs are open and your bookmarks bar, hence the requirement for the whole display to be enlarged. I wish someone could get the experimental...

    Sound and display

Finding my way around Linux Mint quite happily theses days and everything seems to work OK. Two issues that still bother me: One is the display and the other is the sound. The display settings give me 100% (too small) or 200% (too large) with nothing in between. Increasing the font does not...

Oh yes, I am also aware of Ctrl and +, but that does not increase the size of the app heading.

    Dislike to Linux

The display settings give you a 100% or 200% view, and the incremental one is experimental and does not work very well. I need the whole web page bigger, not only the fonts, which setting I also found. So now I have 100% (too small), or 200% (too large) which in some cases cuts off part of the...

    Dislike to Linux

Never had any real problems with Windows but refuse to be badgered into replacing a perfectly good working laptop to upgrade to Windows 11.

    Dislike to Linux

It's OK. It was just my frustration coming through when trying to install Linux the first time, and now trying to get my display full screen in a legible form without cutting things off and then not being able to recover things when they went South. Will get there eventually. Thanks for the...

    Dislike to Linux

I set my display to be larger as I have difficulty in reading the very small fonts. This unfortunately makes some screen displays too big. This was the case with Timeshift, looking around to see what it was all about. Wanted to get the display back to 100% was when this happened. Even I would...

    Dislike to Linux

You won't believe this. Looked around in timeshift, wanted to change my display settings, couldn't find what i needed and rebooted. Get a message unable to launch cinnamon - session-cinnamonX session not found Falling back to default session.Which of course it does not do! Have to go through...
