What is the most beautiful linux distribution?

I just ask for fun because I don't know too many linux distros.
There is not one and it also depends on your personal preferences what you find beautiful, take your pick. And you can customize as much as you like to make it look beautiful to your needs and likes.

As @f33dm3bits said, it's subjective. It depends on you and what you like.

Personally, I think whatever it is Elementary OS is using is pretty sexy. I don't use it on bare metal, but I still think it looks really, really good.

At the same time, I use LXDE (still, at the moment, as a preference) and I think it's lovely.

Disclosure: This site is mine.

That's a tutorial I wrote for making a dock with LXPanel. If you scroll through, you'll see what this very computer looks like on the desktop. It is my opinion that it's lovely. You may not agree, but that's fine. After all, it's subjective. I personally find simplicity to be both beautiful and elegant. (I'm a retired mathematician. So, that probably influences my preferences for simplicity.)

So, instead of asking us what is the most beautiful, look around and then let us know what you think is the most beautiful.

The others have made very valuable comments.
And I agree. Test drive a few distros, with different desktop environments and see what YOU like.

Choosing the distro that is right for you is a very personal and subjective thing. You want something that runs well on your hardware, fits in with the way you work, that looks and behaves the way you want it to. And the only person who can decide what fits those criteria is you.

My installation of Debian minimal net install with dwm is undoubtedly the most beautiful distro in the world..... To me!! Ha ha! And probably me alone!
It's extremely lightweight, extremely minimalist, easy to maintain and I love it....

However - anybody else who is put in front of it might think it to be a completely unusable abomination. They're entitled to their opinion - however wrong it may be! Ha ha!

What I'm saying is - you could ask a dozen different people about the best looking distro, or the best distro for any other criteria and get at least a dozen completely different answers. At the end of the day, what you like is what matters the most!

I agree with JasKInasis that sometimes minimal, lightweight is desirable.
I tend to be just the opposite, I have two 24 core systems, with 96GB of RAM and 3 TB disk space.
I like MATE (one of the heavier desktops) I run multiple VM's, multiple databases, multiple web server,s multiple application servers, a few games, WINE, some 3-D graphics apps, all while listening to mp3's and browsing the web. What good is having all this horsepower if you don't use it?
On the other end, if you really want a dedicated server, for say a LAMP stack, you probably don't want GUI's, games, and a lot of extra stuff running.

Wow! With those specs you can run all the shiny desktop things and every other application on your machine at once and still have plenty of grunt left over!! Blimey!

I’ve only got a core i3 (4 dual threaded cores), 8Gb Ram and a 1Tb HD, plus a low end Optimus graphics card (Intel/nvidia). Which is still more than enough resources to be able to run any desktop environment, even with a heavy workload. Not so good for games, thanks to the low spec gfx cards.

I just prefer to save the extra horsepower for the applications that need it.... No point wasting extra memory or cpu time on frivolous shiny things that either get in the way, or serve as distractions. Ha ha!

That, and I just love dwm!! Even if I had the crazy specs of your machines, I’d still run dwm instead of a desktop!

Lightweight OS/desktop and lightweight/terminal based applications wherever practical. But full-fat applications for serious work, or serious fun. That’s my formula!! Ha ha!

I run 56 Distros on this rig, and they are like my children - I find beauty in all of them.

Unlike my children, if I don't like them, I delete them. :)

What works for me can be applied to almost any Linux. I use background wallpapers to enhance my viewing enjoyment, and I have them on a slideshow. Some examples are as follows.

The ones above happen to be from MX Linux, but you can get wallpapers from the Internet, or copy these ones, your choice.

Then I use the wallpapers in a slideshow. Desktop Environments (DEs) which include a built-in slideshow option include Cinnamon, Xfce, and KDE Plasma, but you can install slideshow capability on others as an add-on.

I run my Browser (for example Firefox) at fullscreen, and the same with other applications (not windowed), and have the timer on the slideshow set to, say 3 minutes or 5 minutes, and so then, when I close out of my browser or app, I am faced with a wallpaper that makes me say "Wow, that's nice".

I usually have my panel or dock of icon app launchers set to autohide, so that it shows only when I run my mouse cursor over it, and in that way, I maximise my viewing enjoyment.

Works for me :D

There's only one. And that's the one that works right for you!

Not many here use or even know about Kubuntu, but I've been using it for 14 or so years. It works hard for me, and Idon't need to do much for it. Just keep it updated and clean; just like a car, change the oil, wash and wax, run a vacuum through the interior.

You can also have a look at Archcraft, it's a new distribution focused on ricing your Desktop.

I always like that saying and I agree.

Just be sure that beauty is "married to" functionality.

The most beautiful Linux is not worth the code underlying it, if it does not work the way you need from it.

This is very bad advice for privacy - it is a common method of following you around the internet linked to your machine's monitor size and resolution...
