So yesterday I flashed an iso of Kali Linux to an 8gb USB using Balena Etcher and plugged it into my MacBook Air running Catalina, pressed down Option-Alt, and restarted the computer.

I expected that I'd get a dual boot screen, with options for Macox and Kali.

Instead I just got the Macox option and a request for wifi details.

I tried the USB on a Raspberry Pi and a PC running Mint and it didn't dual boot either.

I have no idea what went wrong, since I followed the instructions.

Any ideas?

G'day @Stevo81 and welcome to linux.org :)

I won't be the one to assist you as I am not acquainted with Mac's, but you said

...since I followed the instructions.

Can you tell us where those instructions came from?

Cheers
