Thank you, both. I am trying not to be TOO needy. I followed a tutorial and went through the mint 1st steps list. I enabled the firewall and set up timeshift. Status checked, it is active.

I went with the recomended partitions which is a boot partition and the rest of the SSD is allocated for mint. Is this my best option? Will it automatically write programms to the SSD and files and media to the hdd?

Bob (if I may?) Thanks for the info on mozilla. I heard they were getting some backlash, but never got a chance to see what their stance actually was. Typical anti-free speech drivel. I will be going another route and looking into Librewolf for sure.

I assume my needs are very simple in comparison to what you guys do, I
G'day. fx9
I'm with you on that score except ain't getting into muck arsen around with video though.
Ya wanna give Brave web browser a shot. I use both Firefox and Brave and do most searches on it through Duck duck go but it also gives you the choice of three other search engines besides google and bing. With Brave you get less unwanted annoyances as well.

Edit: add a link to the mozilla blog post

Without the intention of showing any position on the matter, I'd just like to recommend to read the mozilla blog post aside from the video. The video is skipping any discussion on what disinformation really means (fabricated falsehood with the specific intentions of causing harm).

I like the conversation around this kind of things; if anyone wanted to have a civil discussion further on either the mozilla statement or the RMS issue, I'd first ask @wizardfromoz to move this post and the related ones to some other thread to avoid deviation from the laptop recommendation.

I am inclined to agree, Sydney friend. :) I have to leave shortly to cook tea, but will take a closer look in my morning, or David @KGIII may act while I am catching zzz's.

@fx9 on Timeshift, you can take a look at my Thread here

https://www.linux.org/threads/timeshift-similar-solutions-safeguard-recover-your-linux.15241/

for ideas, or ask any questions on it there.

Later, folks

You could always start a new post about Mozilla in some other subforum, such as General Linux Topics

Could you link to the post, please?
