Keyboard issues with asus rog

I tried all of the solution but non of it actually worked. If it might help us any way, any linux installation on virtual box(windows as host) seems fine out of the box

Unfortunately, using it in a VM is no good because the keystrokes are sent to the VM through software. The Windows kernel + drivers are handling the raw input. That is then sent to the VM (which can emulate whatever hardware from there).

Two other questions:
1. Can you try boot most recent Manjaro LiveCD and test the keyboard live? Does that work?
2. Also to try text mode: Does the keyboard work in text-only with no active. Note that you'll need to kill your DM as well in order to test it.

If either works, and the text-only one really should, it must be a driver bug (which I suspect) is the only remaining possibility. Especiall given it works fine on Windows.

Hey, sorry for late reply... I tried latest manjaro and it works on live, then I tried to install it and got a black screen after boot. By text mode if u mean linux with only terminal like server(ctr + alt + f2 is a shortcut I believe) it works on every linux distro

Yes, plain text tty. Sorry for my bad typing in the previous post, "no active" was meant to read "no X session active". So if you Ctr+Alt+F(number), it's probably fine -- I'd still kill my Xsession & DM though -- for testing.
Another thing that occurred to me is maybe if this is only happening during installation, to try a text-based installer. Many distros like Debian, Void, etc. offer this.

Model: Asus Rog Strix G15 G513QR-HF118
I only press asdf, no more. i search for drivers but i only found this and not working for me

if I type slowly it doesn't happen...
Having the same issue with a G513QM.

I come to this forum for this Issue than you so much for the answer.

@KGIII hah Considering I have an ASUS ROG GX502GW, hah this is what I don't want to mess with when considering a Linux desktop,

You never have these issues on server hardware. :)

Note to self: Do not install Ubuntu on my ASUS ROG laptop lol (even if Kernel 5.13.x fixes it heh)

Servers don't run GUI's 99% of the time, you have an awful lot of hate for the Linux desktop compared to all the other sysadmins I know. With your years of Linux experience you would either find a solution or a workaround in no time, although for this problem it would be interesting to know if this problem only happens with Gnome or also other DE's.

Meh, you'll figure it out. When you do, you can come tell everyone else the solution!

You've got it completely wrong. I don't hate Linux on the desktop. I'm just trolling my Linux compatriots. ;)
