Suggestions for a note taking app? Joplin, or OneNote import?

Hi folks, I'm about 4 months in from my conversion to Linux Mint from Windows. One of the last apps that I'm really struggling with is a note-taking app. I still have some data in OneNote, but I migrated everything to Joplin, and I'm not really enjoying the app that much at all. It's just missing too many features for me. So I'm wondering what others have used, and preferably something that would accept data from OneNote or Joplin. Natively it probably won't accept the data, but I know smart individuals out there have created scripts for these purposes. So I'm wondering, is there anything else out there that looks a lot like OneNote, and also has a web version and an Android mobile app?

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I like your signature, and yes, I was fed up with Big Tech and I went with Linux Mint and liking it very much. Anyway, I'll take a look at obsidian.

There is a topic running here at linux.org

Also, and in my opinion, a better choice is ZIM

I am assuming you are running Linux Mint 20.1 ?...if so, you will find zim in the software manager...(click on menu, type in software manager, when it opens type in zim ...follow the prompts from there to install it.
Because it comes from the Software Manager you can trust the source.
Here it is...top of the list, with a small green tick against it, which indicates that it is installed on my pc.

I just went and looked at my backups for 18.04 (yes, I still have those files) and it looks like the application I settled on is called "SimpleNote".

As mentioned in an entirely different thread, I didn't stick with it for long. I reverted to my plain text method and eventually started putting my notes online for all to see in the form of articles.

Why don't you guys simply use the "real thing", aka a very close clone of MS OneNote ? Take a look at patrikx3's OneNote on GIT. See https://github.com/patrikx3/onenote/ , he has several packages in different formats (deb, rpm, appimage) and they work like a charm... Cheers !

Be aware, you need a Microsoft Account to open it.

Yes, but I already had such an account, so it was ideal for me to sync notes to my different e-devices.;)

Because, "For me anyway", I'm done with Big Tech. The way they sensor us, and filter search results is disgusting. I'm dong my best to no longer support Microsoft, Google, Amazon, and the rest. I'm having a very hard time finding a note-taking app that has, 1) A web version, 2) Android App, 3) Linux App, and 4) A migration path from either Microsoft OneNote or Joplin.

Well, that one doesn't seem to have anything to do with those, so you might give it a try as it appears to meet your requirements. If I may say so, try the Appimage, so you don't have to install and uninstall anything in case you don't like it, once you do read here to learn how to use it.

If you want a simple text editor for taking notes, try leafpad.
