I'm posting this on linux.org because it only does this on my manjaro drive. I have another drive where i had windows 10 installed on it and that worked fine. However i wiped that drive so I can have space for my manjaro setup and be free of windows.

What happens is neither the office website or teams website will let me sign in onto any of accounts, just gets stuck verifying some token and then gives up and says it can't sign me in. I have tried clearing cookies and cache, switched from firefox to chromium to see if that would change anything which it did not. Since i'm on manjaro i can't download the desktop app as they only do .deb and .rpm packages.

I need to use the web apps to get access to and do my college homework.
Any help will be appreciated.

Can you share the urls for the office website and the teams website, I'm sure they are something like outlook.office365.com or something like that..?

I have the Microsoft Teams app on Arch and I installed it from the AUR.

I think Manjaro uses pamac to install AUR packages.

The office website is "https://www.office.com", but "https://www.office.com/?trysignin=0" when I try to sign in. The teams website is "https://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/microsoft-teams/group-chat-software", then "https://teams.microsoft.com/go# [id_token= then it spam cycles through tokens]" and when it fails to sign it is "https://login.microsoftonline.com/d...fa-478a-4cd0-b456-5381ef184a58&login_hint=[MY STUDENT NUMBER]%40[MY COLLEGE DOMAIN]&domain_hint=[MY COLLEGE DOMAIN]". anything in square brackets has been replaced by me

sorry, because my previous post included links it is awaiting moderator approval. Also, just installed teams from the AUR and it is the exact same login screen and same result. I cannot sign in on that either.

It's something on your end, I use Office365 for work and I can sign in with no problems in both the teams website and the www.office.com website. Try disabling your browser addons?

I just installed a Manjaro system and I am able to do the same there, what browser addons do you use?

firefox, installed from pacman. I don't believe it is a browser issue as it fails to sign in on other browsers and the desktop app itself.

What browser addons are you using in Firefox?

bitwarden, checkmarks, duckduckgo privacy essentials, honey, search by image, ublock origin

Try disabling "duckduckog privacy essentials" and "ublock origin", then try again.

On my Manjaro installation I tried installing the same addons and I have no problems logging into both the teams website and the office website. The only thing I can conclude from this is that your college might have put a restriction on from what OS you can connect to your University's Teams and Office website since you are having the problem when using a browser and when using the linux microsoft teams app. I know they can put restrictions on it because at my work they don't allow alternative clients to connect Office365, only the Outlook client, so I wouldn't be surprised if they can also put restrictions on which OS clients are allowed to connect to Teams and Office.

I will ask if there is such restriction. However, this error also happens when I try to sign in from a personal email with no link to any organization or such. Thank you for your time by the way, this is such a weird issue and i appreciate you helping out.

If using a VPN, disable it.

Try booting on a live USB of another vanilla distro, like Linux Mint, and see if you can access from that.

Just some wild guesses. Good luck!

One last thing you can try. Create a live usb flash drive so you can boot from another distribution, for example Ubuntu or Mint. Then boot into the live environment, then try to connect to the Teams and Office website from there, what happens then?

it's currently 11:47pm, I'm gonna go sleep and try those suggestions and update the thread tomorrow.

I can login to Microsoft teams now. And the office website too. I am unsure what caused the initial issues so I tried debian and it worked there so I reinstalled manjaro as i thought it was a bad install and then I also couldn't login however it was a different error this time which I solved by going into my browser settings and changing the security to standard from the default strict.

For some reason microsoft teams requires third party cookies and tracking enabled for it to work. If anyone else has the same issue try going into your browser setting and disable the built in security settings which block third party cookies and tracking.

Microsoft wants to track you? Oh-no! LOL ;)

Glad you got it figured out.:)

I never thought the privacy settings in the problems were going to be a problem, usually it's privacy addons that cause a problem. On which setting did you have the Firefox "Enhanced Tracking Protection" configured?
