Windows 11 Leaked

Microsoft is continuing its inexplicable efforts to dig itself into a hole by temporarily removing the PC Health Check app, thus preventing users from checking to see whether or not their computer will be compatible with Windows 11.

Microsoft has also recently faced backlash for approving rootkit malware. With its stringent minimum system requirements and seemingly lackadaisical approach to security certificates, the tech giant is certainly struggling to find balance lately. Hopefully, it finds its footing and doesn’t create an even bigger mess.

You can still use this: https://github.com/rcmaehl/WhyNotWin11

that's something they have been doing since 1992, but instead of a shovel , they are now using an excavator..

A little story.
back in the late 90's a friend who worked in security ! [no names no pack drill] gave me a floppy copy of one of the investigative programs they used, you ran it on W95/98/nt/xp and it would list all the back doors into your computer when on line, I got 5 MS and 3 others [I have always been as careful as possible] I closed the 3 others, but did not touch the MS ones [as instructed] , I lent it to one of the wife's nephews told him how to use it and not to close the MS ones.. did he listen, no! he closed everyone, the result MS shut down completely locking up his computer [even the local MS approved local shop could not resurrect it] he learnt two things, one to be more careful on what he downloaded to drive, and to listen when he was told not to to something.

Moved the battery stuff and cleaned up.

While in off-topic, this thread can remain on-topic.

They cant even get the "health check" right....why would I want the OS???!!

"" Based on the feedback so far, we acknowledge that it was not fully prepared to share the level of detail or accuracy you expected from us on why a Windows 10 PC doesn’t meet upgrade requirements. We are temporarily removing the app so that our teams can address the feedback. We will get it back online in preparation for general availability this fall.”

.....which I believe is September 22...?....I do not live in that part of the world, so am not positive about the date

Perhaps they need help from an experienced Linux coder to fix the thing....they tell me a guy called Clem and another called Linus will occasionally do an outside job just for the thrill of it.....and a boatload of money.

Why on gods green earth are we discussing that rabbit pile of dungs problems?
All we need now is some brain dead twat to tell us that it is a great operating system.....and the meltdown into an uncontrollable fit of mirth on the floor would be complete.

tpm....what is the point of it ?

TPM “attestation” can be used to remotely authenticate hardware and software. The TPM has a unique endorsement key (EK) burned into the hardware. Organisations can remotely check and verify that a device is what it says it is and that the hardware and software haven’t been tampered with. For example, this might be particularly useful for a company managing a fleet of work laptops.

So there you have it. Msft tampering in yet another form.

Anybody need a dose of control in their lives/computers ??

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Welcome to the wonderful world of LINUX. No tpm/anti tampering with YOUR OWN Hardware/Software.

Just like Windows 10/11 supports TPM, the Linux kernel also supports TPM ;)

I guess the question is.....is tpm used in this way in the Linux community?
Organisations can remotely check and verify that a device is what it says it is and that the hardware and software haven’t been tampered with

Yeah, Linux uses it to make sure the OS you're booting is the OS you installed or that your encryption keys are actually valid. (Or it can use it as such.) It's actually a good idea. TPM is good stuff.

So....is it possible that msft will use it some more nefarious way ?

That link above is a must read.

Seeing this requirement for your hardware to actually have the tpm chip present otherwise your download of win 11 is a no-go.......this would indicate that msft has some particular purpose in mind.

Seeing that requirement is NOT present in any Linux download, I believe it is safe to assume that Linux's intentions are at least honourable.

Microsoft's goal is probably to no longer support older computers so that they can have the additional security TPM provides universally. They get bitched at if they have lax security and bitched at if they do things to improve security. I can't blame them for phasing out old hardware compatibility. I'd likely make the same choice.

From what I've read, 90% of vulnerabilities found in Windows is due to the GUI :)

The intention of today’s post is to acknowledge and clarify the confusion caused by our PC Health Check tool, share more details as to why we updated the system requirements for Windows 11 and set the path for how we will learn and adjust.

system requirements for Windows 11...

Looks like there could be a glut of good quality higher end secondhand boxes for the rest of us...

and if the "glut" is big enough the price will reflect the size of the glut....(low price)....

Simple.....no other people aspiring to win 11 will buy them....

I thought the older you are the more money you have to spend? I never buy second hand hardware, I buy everything new, then I'll be using it for 5-7 years and then I'll give my old hardware to a friend and buy some new hardware myself again.

Keep dreaming !
Take advantage of your earning years while you have them.....the "older" years can get pretty lean

It's not like it's given to me for free, that's why I rather run GNU/Linux than spend my hard worked for earnings on a Windows 11 license.

Onya mate !!....that's what we like to hear !! ;);):)
