Just upgraded my mint 20 installation with the new 5.11.0 kernel [which can be found in the mint system updates]
Anyone with newer kit still having issues I say give it a go.

Is that LM20.2 ...?

Mint is running old crap ;) I'm running on 5.14.16

5.4.0-89 here

I stick with the LTS kernels 5.4.-89 at present only real reason to upgrade the kernel is if you have newer hardware that needs it. That's on Mint 20.2. I think I'm running 5.10 on MX but haven't really checked it lately. As long as every thing runs I don't bother with kernels that much.

Do you think that kernel (5.11) would have any impact on an older motherboard running a new nvme drive?
(try it and see, I guess)

What prompted you to try it ?

I had nothing better to do, the boiler engineer was here to do a service, the heating was off and my office was the warmest place in the house,
My HP is about 5 years old so I didnt expect any problems, won't bother to upgrade the spare lappy drive [lappy is now about 11 yrs old] nothing broke, and this afternoon it updated again ..

I had nothing better to do,
I am so glad somebody else in this world gets those times !

I will Timeshift the system first and then give it a whirl.

it is installed ....and updated itself almost immediately.

Time will tell.

To you and others, as of today - and I think it actually dropped today:

Code:

5.4.0-90-generic
I had this one come through yesterday. Updated it and it is working fine.
