Pine Me

Chewbacca did it

It's a long story. I'll make it brief. I throw a giant party on my lawn for a few days every summer. (I haven't for the past two.) It appeared after the party. As memory serves, it was weird because it didn't have anything in it and didn't look like it ever had.

So, the more I listen to my favorite podcasts talk about Pine64, the more tempted I am to try it. I order a PineTime smartwatch that was only $26 and it should arrive in a couple days. I also order a PinePhone today. It's the Beta Edition With Convergence Package and has Manjaro with Plasma Mobile OS preinstalled. This likely won't be my daily driver, but at only $200 I couldn't pass it up.

After 2 frustrating hours trying to flash an old Huawei Mate SE BND-L34, I decided to just get the real deal.

Anyone have a PinePhone?
I dont have one but ive considred getting one to try out, im very curious about them

Linux-friendly e-ink PineNote

Oh no, now a PineNote. I never really got my PinePhone working that great, but still may need to buy this tablet!

Neither are daily drivers.

That's what's stopping me from replacing my Flintstones phone with a PinePhone. Also, my existing phone has a ton of life left in it, while having all the features I want - from a removable battery to a real earphone jack. If you click the link, you'll see it has all sorts of power. The battery was only 1200 mAh but my case is a 'battery back' that I want to say triples that. I already had a few days of standby without it.

So, my existing phone just works. I'd like to support their phone project, but I don't need a project phone. I keep reading how it can't be used as a daily driver and that's enough for me to just put it in the 'wait' pile.

I might splurge on the tablet... That'd be fine as a project device, but I hardly use the tablets that I do have.

I was picturing a dinosaur, but it's quite a capable phone. I missed having a headphone jack at first but now prefer truly wireless earbuds.

Do you have an Android or iOS tablet?

i got excited about 4 years ago when nokia re released their nokia 3310 ( https://www.nokia.com/phones/en_gb/nokia-3310?sku=A00028120)

Its one of the retro nokias i grew u with, they where real robust and sturdy phones
I somtimes consider going back to an old school retro type mobile ( that just calls and texts), but ive gotten so used to having acces to email, browsing youtube and online banking that im not sure if i could go back or not but id like to lol

Both, actually. My iPad is getting a little long in the tooth, but the Samsung (S7, I'm pretty sure) is fairly new.

And, yeah, my dinosaur phone is still pretty capable. I used to upgrade to a new phone at least as often as every two years. Then, this one rolled around and I just can't really justify upgrading it.

They still make them. For some reason that makes no sense to me, they call them "feature phones", which may be archaic from when those things were considered features and not the barest of essentials.
