Just a little about Linux that really doesn't fit in any other categories.

A few reasons that I like Linux and the distro I use Mint is
1/ I can watch the progress of the updates with the little terminal box as well as watch the system monitor and see the progress in the CPU as well as how quick the download was and the amount of code downloaded.
2/ With the update manager I am able to know what requires updating and what it does, the number of packages involved and the change-log of the update and its urgency and the date it was published.
With Vindows to learn anything about the updates you had to farta*se around and as for what it is doing while updating forget it.
Sometimes it seems to freeze more so with videos as I would be watching a You Tube vid and the picture freezes and the cursor disappears but the voice track on the video keeps on a speaking. Have no alternative but to hit the reset button and it restarts no problem and it does not seem to leave a crash report anywhere that I can find. But it dinna bother me since so far it recovers itself on the restart unlike Vindows where it was not that reliable then you had to go and go back to the last good one.
But I am happy I can do what I need to do and learn a bit about other programs like Krita though I am not kind of artist but it gives me something to do and something to learn so that I can apply it when I have to.
I would were I ever decide to go back mainstream for an OS I would take Mac over Vindows but before that to occur I would have gone through every other Linux distro and by that time I would be pushing up daisies as I shortly begin my 70th orbit of our Star on our beautiful Planet we call home.

Happy almost 70th orbit around the Sun!

I think it's not so much that Windows doesn't have crash logs. They're just hidden in the mire of system management tools, stored in a database, not just transparent;y available as a text file.

They're just hidden in the mire of system management tools,
One of the reason I gave Vindows the flick to much hassle to get info that should be easy to get at. I am just a user of the OS but since Linux gives you the ability to maintain your OS and there is plethora of books with info pertaining to using the terminal makes it easy to maintain your OS. And when your really stuck you go to sites like this and ask those that live and play with the OS's what is the best way to do something.
The other thing is I like that should things get so warped and degraded you can easily clean the deck and dump your version or an updated version of you OS or you can dump another distro entirely on your deck. Couldn't do that with vindows as that is what drove me to Linux even harder.

i know this sounds counter-intuitive, but in your browser disable 'hardware acceleration'. Then, restart your browser and continue watching video - hopefully without freezing.

Heh... You're old! :D (Me too, but not quite that old.)

But it also occurs when I am in Facebook at times and that is on the Firefox browser and videos are on the Brave browser but I will do it though after I get off this site. With Facebook though it does get iffy as I look at my system monitor just to see what is happening and it seems to use a lot of the CPU processing as I tend to only have what I require to be open at that time.

It can happen with any site, but heavier sites tend to make it crash more frequently/quickly.
