The Future of Linux

Interesting and time will tell what happens.
in the mean time I'm happy using the desktop linux :)

Well, some interesting points, but we've seen the failure of Stadia because gaming + cloud... no. Not enough horsepower, higher latency... LTT did a comparison of a few offerings and IIRC nVidia was the "better". Anyway, Linux may gain usership if cloud desktop became a thing, but I'm far more inclined to the mobile phone and docking as the tech is all already in existence, it's just a matter of implementing it in a way to relieve bottlenecks. Cloud is infeasible for 100% of the time cozza downtime and vulnerability to attack.

Oh, and just to be snarky, "XFCE is old-fashioned looking" -- BS statement of the year. Excuse the tiny screen, my desktop is down so I'm using my laptop with my desktop's theming, which doesn't look too good (1366x768 vs 1920x1080), but this was a quick fresh install which I had to get up and running in like an hour (my desktop looks waaay better and has conky, etc.) Anyhow, reference (yes, it's late, I'm having a little insomnia, but I am off to bed shortly once I finish my Rooibos tea):

I use Xfce on my desktop mostly default and I don't find it old-fashioned, I don't find the need to theme it because the only one who usually sees my desktop is me.

I just enjoy theming mainly for my own sense of aesthetic. I have to look at my PC for about 60-70% of my waking life Mon-Fri and plenty weekends, so I like it to be pretty and I like to know I can change it and not get bored. That, and I just like to fiddle with anything I can which is yet another reason to love Linux and FOSS in general: you can tinker.

Do you just down a them from xfce-look.org?
Yup. I keep some, but about 90% end up getting tossed. Sadly the <insert-DE>-look.org sites have gone downhill. Many themes are broken. Some need tweaking. Most are not full themes, i.e. theme + window manager them, which is fine since you can usually mix 'n match quite decently. My biggest gripe is icons. I see Papirus has finally been fixed. There was a lot missing. The only problem is a little too much now. Icon cache file is ~2MB. Still, I like it. I was using Moka, which is mostly pleasant, but I like the change. Obviously I have many custom icons, too. Some I downloaded, some I whipped up in Inkscape/GIMP (on my desktop, this laptop crashes Inkscape and GIMP takes forever to load -- it's hard to believe how snappy this was ~6-7 years back).
You can also check out r/unixporn for some cool ideas and theming sources, though most of it it for Gnome or "alt" WMs. Good news is GTK themes are universal and most WM themes can be "ported" to XFWM if you put in a little work.

In case you're wondering, my theme is Tokynight (Dark-B version) and my icons are Papirus-Yaru-remix. My wallpaper is from wallhaven.cc (great resource).

Yeah in Linux we have choices - we are so hard done by LOL
