I've mentioned the scuttlebutt before. (It was mentioned briefly in a public chat. I didn't leak anything private. It just didn't have any official confirmation.)

Well, it's now true...

I, for one, welcome the new flavor. I'm partial to the Cinnamon desktop. It's definitely in my top 3 current desktop environments.

will have to give it a try. :) Thanks for letting us know.

I too am partial to Cinnamon, I think it's the best as far as GUI desktop purposes are concerned. Makes sense to have it on Ubuntu, I never liked Gnome

Mmmmm cinnamon bread is always good......

As to Mint, I have always used Cinnamon and it has worked so far. On MX I use XFCE I just can't get XFace out of my head though. Mint and MX seem to be my goto's. I have been running Neptune on an older Alienware laptop. I play around with it once and a while. Seems to be good so far.

The list of flavors is getting long...

I just massaged the beta release post for the fridge, and thus my first (beta) 'release' notice which included Ubuntu Cinnamon.... but also included Edubuntu too !!

(whilst Edubuntu isn't 'new' per se, if I've posted before with them in the list of flavors, its been so long ago I don't recall it).

10 flavors for lunar, and that's not counting Ubuntu, Ubuntu Server, Cloud Images which feel like flavors too as I massage the text in a text editor.

(I couldn't paste the URL; it's in a review queue currently)

Later add: https://fridge.ubuntu.com/2023/03/31/ubuntu-23-04-lunar-lobster-beta-released/

Cinnamon is a good desktop environment, and having a greater variety of options on Ubuntu, or any distribution for that matter is always a good thing, keep the flavors coming!

Yup.

Wonder if they'll do one with out a desktop per se, but with a tiling window manager? Something like that.
