Hey guys !

Yesterday my disk got damaged ,I guess. So I`ve run the cmd :
sudo badblocks -v /dev/sda > badsectors.txt
and the output file is 1.1 GB heavy and sometimes I hear weird noises (From the HDD ofc ^^ )

Is it worth to invest time and block each sector ? I ve never done that before.

Pls help.

Disks (gui):
Disk is OK, 1016 bad sectors (47° C / 117° F)

Use smartctl to check the disk state.. you can use smartctl flags to read disk sectors and write zero on it's bad sectors.. I fixed my external hard disk this way and it's working now properly

Thank you for you answer. I did it and I guess its the only way to fix the disk from bad sectors.

I dont know if you had read my first post but I ve run the program to check the addresses from the bad sectors and the output file was over 1 GB heavy. So the next step for me was to run smartctl , but the disk was so corrupted that the system showed an error msg and it rebooted it self.

So my conclusion was that the disk is not an software problem its the hardware problem.

The case is closed I already bought a new disk .

It would be nice if one of the moderators could close this topic , thank you.

I would be happy if I could help you, but it seems I can't
Good luck

G'day Joker :), just an FYI, we don't close Threads around here, in case the OP or others experience a recurrence, or have new, similar, problems from which others may benefit.

Exception to that is if the Thread contains offensive material.

Hope the new disk works out for you :D

I think the disk is quite damaged , the notebook feld on the ground then I noticed some noices from the HDD. But all was working fine , so I kept useing it .

But day after day it become slower and slower some programs even did not started. Then it got worse I became system errors .I work abroad , I had to leave my disk at home. So thats why I wanted to close topic cuz I can't do anything with it yet.

Vahid it would be nice if I may ask you for help next week (when I will be at home).

I m considering to buy a "disks holder"(dont know the name) , it connects the disks with the computer through an usb (3?) kabel . But I dont know if this is a good idea , have anyone a suggestion ?

Guys I love this forum & the community !
Great work , thanks to you all ✌

It sounds like a drive caddy, Joker. I used two 10 years ago with 2 80GB HDDs where the rest of the computer got struck by lightning. They worked fine.

Good luck
