You know how a day a go I said that I had no bugs/problems with manjaro and that it is perfect. I lied. I rebooted my laptop and bam my screen is separated into two different places. Help plz. Have attached image. Basically the right side of the scrwen is in the top left half and the left side is on top right half.

Now I know that Australia and New Zealand are on the bottom side of the world and we are like standing upside down on our heads, but that's taking it to extremes a bit isn't it? :D

Anything happened like downloading updates, introducing new software, &c since it was last OK?

Remind us of the Manjaro you are using, down to DE (Desktop Environment) eg GNOME, Cinnamon, KDE, Xfce &c.

If you can access Terminal, give us the output from

Code:
inxi -Fxz

If inxi is not installed,

Code:
sudo pacman -S inxi

Wizard off to brew up tea and out for my evening.

Cheers

Thanks for ur help

Using kde didn't install any new software so don't know why

I think my problem caused the wizard to have a heart attack and die

Patience, young Kiwi - take more than this to kill a Wizard - I am a couple of hours behind you and am having my 1st coffee of the day.

Simplest answer might be a reinstall so think about that for a minute while I "buy" my wife her cup of tea.

Wiz :D

It has become selfa aware and I am prettyusing sure it is fixing itself

Was it something like

Code:
Failed to start Create Volatile Files and Directories
?

If so, could be a systemd problem.

On our reply toolbar, right of emoji is an icon with three dots and a down arrow, in there is Code.

Give us the output for

Code:
pacman -Qi systemd

... and copy and paste the output into the code popup window and enter.

Thx for ur help.

You're always welcome, Zaki, but what if it happens again?

I would suggest making friends of Timeshift. I have a Thread on it here

https://www.linux.org/threads/timeshift-similar-solutions-safeguard-recover-your-linux.15241/

The Manjaro references and video are a bit dated (am going to update), so I will tell you how to install in your current circumstances.

Code:
sudo pacman -S timeshift

If this works, well and good, your Timeshift is installed. If it returns that there is no such package, then follow the following:

Code:
git clone https://aur.archlinux.org/yay.git
cd yay
makepkg -si
yay -S timeshift

yay will prompt you if/when it needs your password.

Once Timeshift is installed, you must have space to take a snapshot.

If you do not tell Timeshift otherwise, it will save to a hidden folder in /home/zaki called .timeshift

If you want to put it elsewhere - you have something like 215 GiB left on your hard drive, and you can generate a discrete partition for it, call it Timeshift, with say, 40 - 50 GiB, using either of KDE's Partition Editor, or else install GParted, the GNOME Partition Editor.

If GParted

Code:
sudo pacman -S gparted

Once you have that partition in place, run Timeshift and steer it to the partition in Settings - Location, and then run a full snapshot of your system.

Any questions on Timeshift in general ask at my Thread.

Friday here in Oz, so Avagudweegend, all.
