I held several positions as an Electrical Engineer at LLNL and on occasion, I also held positions of Electronics Group Leader, Principal Investigator and Project Engineer. I worked on projects for the Department of Energy (DoD), the Department of Defense (DoE), the U.S. Immigration and Naturalization Service (INS, U.S. Border Patrol) and the Department of Homeland Security (HS). These projects included development of hardware and software, including minicomputer and microcomputer systems for data acquisition and control for various projects including, for example, co-development of the control of laser wavelengths for the Laser Isotope Separation Project, co-development of a laser calorimetric power meter, co-development of a hand-held radiation detection and display system, co-development of sensor signal acquisition and R.F. communication for DoD, DoE, INS and HS projects. Often these projects included analysis in Matlab and circuit analysis/design using MicroCap, the design and fabrication of printed circuit boards for microcontroller and FPGA circuits, and software development in C, National Instruments LabWindows/CVI (C), QNX (C), PICBASIC PRO in addition to Windows CE development for the iPaq PDA and VHDL programming for Xylinx and Actel FPGA's.

More recently: Electronics and microcontroller system design and software development for industrial and government applications. Recently I have developed several Fuzzy Logic based paint flow controllers that have been installed in a painting facility in China and are being used for painting TV remote control units. I used Beaglebone Black microcontrollers, 4DSYSTEMS touchscreen LCDs and my Kicad designed "Cape" boards for timekeeping, for measuring signals from paint flow meters and for outputting control signals to the paint pumps. The software is written in Python employing my Fuzzy Logic control algorithm and is utilizes a GUI to allow the operator to set the flow and other controls and for displaying a graph of the flow.
