Although I was hesitant to do so, I finally told my coworker how I felt about her, and she was completely fine with it. Her fiance (and father of her 2 kids) died last December, and I've been helping her through that ever since. Because of that, working 3 jobs, and dealing her mom's cancer, she doesn't have the ability to love someone else now, which is why I said I'm pursuing other women in the meantime.
I've been trying to upgrade my debonair type of fashion sense lately, so last night, I decided to take pictures of stylish men off of the web and arrange them on a LibreOffice Draw file. I'll print them out later and bring it to a men's clothing store so an associate can help me find exactly what I want.
While still on my journey to find a new distro, I was thinking about wanting to try out the Gnome DE, but being that not every distro has it, some DEs are bloated, and I'm using an older computer, I've decided to go with a bare-bones distro and install a WM instead.
Because my ankle has been in significant pain for the last few days, I went to get it checked out yesterday, and I was diagnosed with a sprain. This isn't the first time it's happened. Thankfully, after taking ibuprofen, and icing and elevating it, I feel a lot better than I did yesterday. I can't go back to work until Tuesday, which is fine, because Ive been meaning to make some drawings anyway.
While using SMTube last night, I found out the official Power Rangers channel uploaded full episodes of various seasons. I ended up watching the first 3 episodes of Power Rangers Lost Galaxy (man that brings back memories). I was telling my friend Tim its amazing to realize the International Space Station is, in some ways, the real life equivalent to Terra Venture.
My mom's in the hospital again, but this time because of digestive problems that caused internal bleeding, which in-turn caused her to suffer a serious fall this morning. While both of my parents have had failing health because of their old age and conditions, my mom's worse off than my dad is. All my family can do for her is to maintain her health for the time being.
After talking with @Human about Mark Zuckerberg, that'd be hilarious if there was a spoof movie made about social media and all of the stupid things involved with it. However, being that Hollywood is a crapshoot, both as a culture and as a series of studios, I recommend we make it ourselves.
I'm running Mint 20.2 on my Lenovo X200 laptop, and it's gotten relatively slow and buggy at times lately. While the computer's age does play a part, I was trying to figure out what was slowing it down. I know killing certain processes in System Monitor can speed it up, and after killing the SystemD process, its consuming less memory now and feels faster.
We're getting new flooring in the bathrooms at work, so we have to use port-o-potties for the time being. When I using one earlier tonight, I realized that'd be hilarious if someone made a parody of Doctor Who where their version of the Tardis was a port-o-potty. I can see Family Guy doing that.
My friend's mom died a year and a half ago, and today would've been her birthday. To make matters worse, he's an orphan because he never met his dad either. To honor her memory, I was talking with him about donating clothing to an orphanage. When I was at work just now, I was asking my coworkers if they have any clothing they'd like to donate, and they either didn't or said they'll check.
I was watching distrotube just now (as I haven't done so in a while). When he's talking about Emacs being "viewed as" the antithesis of the Unix Philosophy, one thing I realized about Emacs is it's very similar to the Green Lantern's ring because it's not only powerful, but it can do just about anything it's user wants.
I developed gout in my right knee last night, and ended up going to the ER for it because my mom was going there too for consistent gastro problems. We spent practically all day there because the staff are unbelievably slow, and one of them even gave me a bit of an attitude. I have to recuperate for the next 5 days, which means I'll have to miss work, while my mom has to stay overnight.
One of my coworkers said she wants me to dogsit for her sometime soon, which is nice, because I've always wanted to take care of people's pets. I will say there are definitely some things I'll need to learn beforehand because I've only worked with cats. Thankfully, two of my other coworkers have cats, so they might hire me to catsit for them.
My mom's been having various health issues over the years, and now needs to have a stent put in her heart. Once she's finished recuperating, her other health problems (minus her kidneys (she's on dialysis for that)) will begin to diminish. I just wish she explained it to me that way, rather than putting words in the doctor's mouth and making me worried to the point of tears.
While cleaning the floors and bathrooms at work is tedious and time-consuming, I don't hate the job itself, nor do I hate my coworkers and clientele. However, I'd rather work for myself if I was giving the option to do so. Because of that, I'm thinking of asking my coworkers if I can complete odd jobs for them. Hopefully that will allow me to finally quit the rat race.
This morning, I was informed that one of my coworkers has recently been stalked by a creepy patron. He left her a note on a napkin with his phone number, which she showed to the police when filing a report. While I'm sure they'll trace it and bust him, my other coworkers and I will have to be on alert in case he comes in again.
