  • My new wireless keyboard came today. I'm going to set up my desktop again soon and try installing Devuan onto it. Although it's an older machine, I hopefully shouldn't problems with it.

No, I'm using Mint XFCE (which seems like a downgrade to Cinnamon, IMO). Because some people have experienced glitches with rolling release distros, that made them sound unappealing and uninteresting to try.

I am one of those people. Finally finished installing Deuvan as the main distribution on my laptop, but I still miss Arch and . So, Parabola was installed inside a VM. Deuvan is great, I don't know about others, but I feel like Deuvan is not easier than Arch in my experience.:D

Nice! I'm glad you found a distro that works for you
When I was bringing the laundry down this morning, my cat was laying on my mom's hospital bed soaking up the sun rays. With how they were glowing on her, they reminded me of the halos from the 90's religious drama, Touched By An Angel. Because she's known for being Little Miss Mischief at times, she's not always a gift from God.
As I've spent the last few years trying to avoid Ugly Americanism, I've been gradually incorporating a debonair type of image. Now the way I dress, talk, and behave have become more gentleman-like, and people around me have noticed. Because my bar boss occasionally complements me on how I dress, I was telling him yesterday about why I do that, which led to me making a joke about having him call me Debonair Dave.
Because my barbershop decided to raise their prices again, my friend from work (who's studied cosmetology) was nice enough to give me both a hair cut and scalp treatment (the latter was for my dandruff problem, and I saw instant results). As a result, I'm having her cut my hair from now on. Although I'd hate to see a small business go under, they're going to buckle under their own weight.
Because I've been getting paid through an agency to take care of my parents, on top of having my bar job, I was thinking of quitting my bar job so I can finally focus on my art career and self-improvement. I'll have less money (at first), but I'm going to set up a business proposal with my bar boss where I'd create a shirt with the logo and he buys and resells them to the clientele.
For a while, I've been annoyed with how these smart devices, social media sites, and streaming platforms have become so invasive and made society worse. Not to sound nosy, but now I'm disgusted with how most people around me are so willing to drink the kool-aid and get hooked on them. Because of that, I've decided to create a challenge where people gradually ween themselves of it by trying out simpler tech.
I recently came to the realization that I need to engage in self-improvement before I go out and meet women. While I am attractive in my own right, there some things about myself that need serious improvement. Once I've improved them, women will gravitate towards me much more than they already have.

Toning down this sort of criticism may be a good start.

It is highly likely that a female you meet will have a smart phone. Start off by criticising that, and the "meet" will not last long at all.

I'll PM you about that so this doesn't go off topic
There was a recent shooting in the town I work in (an ex-navy seal had shell-shock and killed his wife and her kids from a previous relationship). My coworker, who lives in that town, was heartbroken over the kids being scared from that. To show her compassion, I texted her a video of Mister Rogers' Neighborhood where he talks about gun violence.

Update: Because superheroes can be a source of comfort during situations like this (mainly because they've taught us how to become better versions of ourselves), I bought a Superman costume in hopes of providing comfort by reading a comic to the one of the schools in Oak Forest (the town where the shooting occurred)
Because taking care of my parents has become increasingly time-consuming, and I recently suffered another burnout at work, I've decided I'm going to quit my job and go into sales, as it would have a more flexible schedule. To make myself better at sales, I'm going to get back into a reselling gig I was into years ago.
Although I was hesitant to do so, I finally told my coworker how I felt about her, and she was completely fine with it. Her fiance (and father of her 2 kids) died last December, and I've been helping her through that ever since. Because of that, working 3 jobs, and dealing her mom's cancer, she doesn't have the ability to love someone else now, which is why I said I'm pursuing other women in the meantime.
I've been trying to upgrade my debonair type of fashion sense lately, so last night, I decided to take pictures of stylish men off of the web and arrange them on a LibreOffice Draw file. I'll print them out later and bring it to a men's clothing store so an associate can help me find exactly what I want.
While still on my journey to find a new distro, I was thinking about wanting to try out the Gnome DE, but being that not every distro has it, some DEs are bloated, and I'm using an older computer, I've decided to go with a bare-bones distro and install a WM instead.
Because my ankle has been in significant pain for the last few days, I went to get it checked out yesterday, and I was diagnosed with a sprain. This isn't the first time it's happened. Thankfully, after taking ibuprofen, and icing and elevating it, I feel a lot better than I did yesterday. I can't go back to work until Tuesday, which is fine, because Ive been meaning to make some drawings anyway.
While using SMTube last night, I found out the official Power Rangers channel uploaded full episodes of various seasons. I ended up watching the first 3 episodes of Power Rangers Lost Galaxy (man that brings back memories). I was telling my friend Tim its amazing to realize the International Space Station is, in some ways, the real life equivalent to Terra Venture.
My mom's in the hospital again, but this time because of digestive problems that caused internal bleeding, which in-turn caused her to suffer a serious fall this morning. While both of my parents have had failing health because of their old age and conditions, my mom's worse off than my dad is. All my family can do for her is to maintain her health for the time being. :(

In order to provide better care for my parents, my brother, dad, and I decided to look into selling the house so they can move into an assistant living facility. I'll have to spend the rest of the year thoroughly learning how to live on my own (as I was never really taught that), get my own place to live, and work my second job full time. I don't mind all of that, because I've been meaning to do so anyway.

Sorry to hear that about your parents, I hope you figure it getting your parents into assisted living without getting into financial problems yourself. No one learns how to live independently, you learn as you go from experience from the responsibility you get from living independently. You will figure it out :)

Thanks for reaching out. This is just life lighting a fire under my butt to kick me into gear.
After talking with @Human about Mark Zuckerberg, that'd be hilarious if there was a spoof movie made about social media and all of the stupid things involved with it. However, being that Hollywood is a crapshoot, both as a culture and as a series of studios, I recommend we make it ourselves.

I'm running Mint 20.2 on my Lenovo X200 laptop, and it's gotten relatively slow and buggy at times lately. While the computer's age does play a part, I was trying to figure out what was slowing it down. I know killing certain processes in System Monitor can speed it up, and after killing the SystemD process, its consuming less memory now and feels faster.
