Hello, wanna write Bengali in linux mint 19.3. what to do?

this was posted last year so should be of some help

Mint and Ubuntu have similar approach to software/ So you have installed and from install menu choosen your language bengali ?

Oh, now I choose that. it's working. but don't know if its preinstalled in the os. yesterday, i installed avro folowing a youtube video but that didnt work. So does that mean it was already there with the os ? i'm using avro now.

good news , welcome to forum i might add. I'm a Slackware user so not an expert on Debian ancestor distro.

But you might be able to look at version of package maybe see vesions and time installed. That might tell you if it was already installed.

Open a terminal and try:

sudo apt-cache pkgnames avro

sudo apt-cache showpkg

hopefully other will jump in

Tried the first code, it says avro-bin
In case of second code, it says nothing.
What does that all mean?

but can you confirm what is the status with your PC and writing bengali , you says it is working ?
if you booted down and rebooted and it works how you want then it must be installed. Rather tricky for me to help i don't often get access to a debian /ubuntu PC

G'day @zish and welcome to linux.org :)

I don't often suggest to people to try another Distro, and if you prefer Linux Mint you are in good company.

However have you heard of/tried/used BOSS Linux?

https://bosslinux.in/

It is based on Debian, from which Linux Mint originated ultimately.

It has support for a number of the languages of that region, including Bengali.
