Nah! I think I will stick with the cinnamon desktop layout as I find it more practical than the windows layout. It is more like the draws of a filing cabinet with them being marked with what type of file you will find in there. The cursor placed on the draw contents type opens the draw and shows the contents.

IMHO, what's the point in having Mint or any other distro/DE to look like Windows? Short answer; NONE! I've always seen these themes and never really liked them and/or get them, I mean, can't really take XFCE with a windows theme. And for the record, I think people can use whatever it is they like, all I'm saying is I don't agree with their choices :p
Although, I do admit I kind of like windows Icon theme, but they're not consistent in Linux; some icons for different file formats look just the same which isn't practical, at least for me. Just my two cents.

I want Linux to look like Linux.

I want Windows to look like Windows.

Never understood why anyone would want it any other way.

Beauty lies in the eye of the beholder.
To each his own.
Different strokes for different folks.
One mans trash is another mans treasure.
Etc., etc.

The Wife and I like big trash day and do see a lot of old antique treasures sometimes worthy of a look and perhaps grabbing.

Those are gorgeous!!

Since getting hooked on dwm (a lightweight tiling wm) a number of years ago - I've completely left the traditional desktop paradigm behind. I don't need any of your clunky, slow, point-and-click desktops - let alone something that looks like Windows 7!

How's that for letting go?! Bwa ha ha ha haaaa! :D

I have tried to escape Gnome on many occasions, but then programs don't work as well, like they do in the Gnome environment. It reminds me of Android candy shop environment.

I don't want to be reminded of Windows 7. All I can remember is downloading updates, that didn't want to install, over and over again. Linux is much easier.

I think there would be a lot of users that would endorse that view.
What I like about it when you update you can watch the updates being done unlike in Vindows the same when you install a program. The ability to see the process occurring I like.

That's true most of the time. I am using Fedora Workstation right now and when it updates it restarts and install the updates. I can see what updates are available in the software center before the update.

It's not a problem, just a bit different.

Well, this little novice user of Linux doesn't understand what she's watching as it installs (although it is fun to watch the scrolling action). What she does like is the fact that it's far more private, it updates super fast and easy and it's so much more secure!!! Viva LINUX!!

I'm a novice user for 7 years now and I think if the maintainers of the particular Linux distribution just do a good job, one doesn't have to fix things after the update.

Which one are you using Granny Sue?

I too like to watch the messages scrolling by in the terminal. Every once in a while something will catch my eye and deserve further investigation.
I also always set my boot loader to scroll the messages up my screen when started up. Obviously I can't read that fast but I like watching it. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I like it when Fedora, after running a few mentanaince commands, tells me "nothing to do". Everything works and is up to date. Check back in a week, it's so cutting edge!

I think it's a lot of work ndian , that's trash . Including the horrible job some of these tweakers does. Road is dirt always will be . Careful , aware and away from developers who are not open minded . I am the supervisor of the Rain , so let me no if clouds come. I'll be prepared, and ready for work $$$$
 Uh-huh.... And I’m a Chinese fighter pilot. Let me know if they try to put granny in the microwave again and I’ll have them deported for budgie smuggling! :D

Sorry.... I have no idea what you were trying to say, or the point you’re trying to make. I’m just trying to fit in! Ha ha!! :p:D
