    Getting started with Linux

if you look at some posts ; often its goes like this : I have a terabyte disc here and a HD there and another 10 SSD here i am confused. My suggestion is keep it minimal, keep it simple. Work out if what you really , really want (could be a song) is for functionality or for means of learning...

    Gparted questions

Gparted is my preferred approach to setting up partitions its much more user friendly than calculating cylinder heads from a command line . I actually use gParted from knoppix Linux on a usb stick. this is a screenshot of my partitions. Really apart from efi if you have a new laptop you only...

im not sure what you are saying but.. i don't use Mint but CUPS in simple terms is a print server/print system that can be accessed via url http://localhost:631 Now if you had cups before its a bit of an odd one how you lost it. Unless somehow its there but you disabled it . IN slackware...

Dual boot with Kali linux and W10 not working

first i think you need to simply things and work out the minimum you need; which will mean working out what you don't need. So is the priority to have a single linux distro installed maybe just using a single hdd?

All you have to do is take the first steps; always remember this, other people are only further down the path than you thats all. Sometimes you might find you don't understand something. You might be amazed if you give it a little time that ..after letting it sink in, re-reading you will...

Brand New Desktop Build: Intel AC 9260 and Slackware

So for me talking about an update to main system i might wait until release of 15. If you are talking about slpkg update , that only updates the repo for packages. So you can do that I guess as often as you like. If you want to use slackpkg to do a general update then do a lot of reading first...

Brand New Desktop Build: Intel AC 9260 and Slackware

well it depends on who you ask. On another forum who's name won't be mentioned they would have told you that you should install stable , because current is hard. Even though its nearly 3 years old. If you have 14.2 stable and spent a lot of time and built up a lot of stuff you would have a bit...

How To Get Grub Back With My Fresh Slackware Installation

if you think about it (in a simplistic way) once system has done post test it hands over to boot loader. Now you removed pks lilo (legacy) and elilo (for uefi systems) but of course data would still be present. It could be 512 bytes or what ever on MBR or on a partition. When i did dual boot...

How To Get Grub Back With My Fresh Slackware Installation

my thinking that IF you installed Slackware last ? then when you got to #liloconfig it failed to list other distro. Either the Computer God in the sky is saying "you only need Slackware, forget the rest" or lilo /elilo is not doing it.So maybe give grub a go . There may be still some manual editing
