    Immutable desktops ?

I'm not trying to jump to conclusions when saying this, but I was reading this link that describes what an immutable distro is, and from how I interpreted it, it sounds like it becomes locked down in favor of making it more secure, reliable, and easier to maintain. As much as I like the thought...

LibreOffice Draw Crashes Whenever I Try to Save

I tried it just now and it said it wasn't corrupted. Wouldn't deleting the file and then saving it again help?

LibreOffice Draw Crashes Whenever I Try to Save

Actually, I stand corrected. Upon further inspection, I realized the problem isn't with LibreOffice itself, but with a corrupted PNG file I was trying to save within Draw. I discovered this by saving a blank Draw file with no problems, and then tried saving it with the file, which caused my...

LibreOffice Draw Crashes Whenever I Try to Save

I did try running it in safe mode and it crashed again. While I was in the process of deleting the preinstalled packages so I could install the PPA, I came across the Flathub version just now, and after installing it and trying out Draw, the save feature works perfectly. Had I known that was...

LibreOffice Draw Crashes Whenever I Try to Save

I'm using Linux Mint 21.1 MATE, and the version of LibreOffice I'm using is 7.3.7.2. I've been trying to save a picture so I can use it for the logo for a merchandise brand I'm creating, but when I go to save it, LibreOffice Draw then crashes and causes my desktop session to log me out. First I...

Microsoft release their own Linux distro

Considering Microsoft has been a corporate member of the Linux Foundation, and has used the Linux ecosystem for development of their own products, this is no surprise from them. Its not that much different than when Google, Valve, or LG created their own distros, and even though those companies...

Update: Because I switched from XFCE to MATE, now I have them preinstalled. I tried playing around with them, but because they're confusing to configure, I'll see if there's a tutorial for them.

Solved Screen Tearing Issue on Lenovo X200 Laptop

I managed to solve the problem, but not by using this recommendation. Because I hated the functionality of XFCE, I switched to MATE, and not only did it fix the screen tearing issue, but it feels more smoother to use. Thanks for your help regardless!

When I finally have a new job, I'll look into getting one then. The laptop I'm using now is like a beater car. It may not be in the best or newest condition, but it at least works.

After watching DistroTube's video about desktop animations, https://invidious.kavin.rocks/watch?v=pqO_y_zSyjA, I'm thinking of installing those as well. Being to customize your computing experience exactly how you want is a perfect example of software freedom.

I was thinking of getting one myself, but they didn't have all of the parts available the last time I was on their site (which was maybe 3 months ago). Has that changed?

Solved Screen Tearing Issue on Lenovo X200 Laptop

I'm running Linux Mint 21 XFCE, and I've recently noticed quite a bit of screen tearing when using many of my programs. I tried RTFL which produced no results, then I tried searching for an answer online, and from what I found in this Mint forum post...

I Need Help Modifying Source Code of Open-Source Dating Site

That makes more sense. I'll scrap the email then, but (and forgive me for sounding a bit paranoid) I still have concerns over Github being a Microsoft product now. There's no backdoors on there, right?

I Need Help Modifying Source Code of Open-Source Dating Site

I'm not fluent in using Github, and because Microsoft owns it, I have concerns over data mining and privacy. I did start typing up an email mentioning my suggestions to them, but I'm not finished with it yet. What do you mean by raising them as separate issues? I can always fork it

I Need Help Modifying Source Code of Open-Source Dating Site

You were rude by saying To immediately mention nasty people coming out of the woodwork, and how they'd do so, isn't talking very positively about what I'm trying to accomplish. While you aren't wrong about saying that, the fact you mentioned it is unnecessary, considering I'm aware of that...

I Need Help Modifying Source Code of Open-Source Dating Site

I'm already aware impersonation is a known problem (just look at Twitter handles post-Musk), but claiming making your own avatars solves that problem is misleading because if the person was a crazy ex, they could go to the site you're on, steal your avatar by right clicking and saving, and...
