I always read the comments in on line articles too. Yes some are definitely funny, a few genuinely witty gems too, from time to time....

    Weird Distro Suggestions

LXLE is a bit different but in a good way. I installed it on a E-Machines laptop that's 13+ years old. Runs like a dream and would probably be really good for Steam based gaming given its so light on resources. https://distrowatch.com/table.php?distribution=lxle

    Solved User login history

Hi All, I was wondering if any one knew how to check user login history on Arch linux? I am familiar with the process on Windows, checking logs but I've had a hard time finding anything for Arch. As always, any help is much appreciated.

Weird clock/time related problems in Manjaro (SOLVED)

This problem is usually down to Windows and Linux dual boot (a standard configuration for me. I'm currently using Arch not Manjaro. Here's a fix that worked for me: timedatectl set-time "2014-05-26 11:13:54" (obviously using correct date/time). They recommend changing Windows to use UTC. Link...

    Kernel panic Arch (SOLVED-process documented).

Thanks Wiz. I'm using KDE and I'm very familiar with the AUR. I'll install and back things up on Arch. Better safe than sorry. Appreciate your help. ;)

    Kernel panic Arch (SOLVED-process documented).

Okay problem SOLVED: Load a live version of Arch from a USB stick or drive and log into konsole. Here's precisely the process I followed: (1) sudo lsblk -f (find correct partition/drive) In my case SDA1 (2) sudo mount /dev/sda1 /mnt (enter password) (3) sudo arch-chroot /mnt (4) sudo pacman...

    Kernel panic Arch (SOLVED-process documented).

Thanks Wiz. Yes reinstalling is looking more and more likely. I did have a "fall back" kernel from the grub menu but that failed too, much to my surprise. The obvious "ideal" fix would be to boot from back up and remove/reinstall LTS kernel. I would be curious to hear more about Timeshift...

    Kernel panic Arch (SOLVED-process documented).

Hi, Windows is UEFI, Arch is on legacy. Two separate drives and set ups. For some reason Windows would not install in legacy dual boot. I only use Windows infrequently in any case.

    Kernel panic Arch (SOLVED-process documented).

Hi Wiz, 1. Its Arch 2. Arch + Window 10 Enterprise (accessed under UEFI via BIOS on a separate SSD). 3. I don't recall installing Timeshift (but I did and do back up important data to a USB) but not the OS. 4. Live Arch on a USB stick drive. I'll add doing a fresh install is not the end of the...

    Covid Corner

Stumbled across this side of the forum.I'm an old fashioned lemon and honey man myself (maybe with a dash of whisky to make things exciting). Never had the vaccine, never had COVID (have had a friend who had it, so have an idea of the symptoms). I don't smoke, drink occasionally, I do...

(SOLVED) Error: file ‘/boot/initramfs-zen.img’ not found (solved)

Hi Chris, All good. The backup software? No, I have not used timeshift. I have seen documented cases of this happening to other users. Its Arch after all so, you know..... That said, it proved pretty easy to get things back up and running. Cheers.
