(Solved) Recommend GPU for older setup that will work in Linux Mint 19.3

Thanks again for your time. the HD 4670 is an old card and has its limitations compared to current specs but works fine for my requirements. I dont think it will run Eyefinity but I have not had the need to try it. It only has an HDMI port on the back (alongside DVI & VGA). The dual monitor...

(Solved) Recommend GPU for older setup that will work in Linux Mint 19.3

I think my GPU is too old for the latest versions of Linux. ATi stopped support a few years ago. I was interested to see if running LM live would be different to installed LM in regards to how the HDMI output to the TV would behave, It doesn’t cause the system to freeze but I cant adjust two...

Hi I have been using the VGA output to feed my TV (secondary monitor) however I was curious to see what happens when running LM live from a usb and using HDMI to feed the TV. I can only get it to display the same as the monitor (primary display). The system runs and doesn’t freeze but the...

thanks arochester i appreciate your reply. I have explored all of these options but still no luck. I had read that a full system disc may cause a logging in problem. Can I access my LM system via windows so I can delete files on this disc or is there a way of accessing LM prior to logging in...

LM 19.3 HDMI causes freeze on dual monitor ati HD 4670

Thanks for the reply Daviboy. I think the drivers are too old for LM19.3. It states that these drivers are from 2013 Automated installer and Display Drivers for Xorg 6.9 to Xserver 1.12 and Kernel version up to 3.4. Is there a way to install these. Thanks

(Solved) Recommend GPU for older setup that will work in Linux Mint 19.3

Thank you so much this is really useful. I was considering the 1050ti which may a bit over the top for my current system but would still be a good starting point for a future updated build. It’s a shame the prices have hiked recently and more favoured brands like EVGA don‘t seem to be easily...

(Solved) Recommend GPU for older setup that will work in Linux Mint 19.3

Thanks for the reply. I don’t think I need a powerful GPU. I need advice on what is likely to work, given the frustrations of almost getting the HD 4670 to work as I want. As for budget, I was hoping to keep it under £150. I am confused with all the advice regarding Radeon/Nvidia which tends to...
