    PopOS

I know the feeling. I have a Das keyboard with Cherry MX blue mechanical keys on mine. Nothing compares to it!

    PopOS

Got it about 2 days ago. Beautiful device. Here's the specs - It is a beast of a machine. Very heavy, and not a laptop you would want to travel with. The 16x10 display is great and images/video look wonderful. I don't like Gnome so one of the first things I did was install Cinnamon, but...

Install Linux distro's on hyper-v fails - dell precision laptop- Light Display Manager

BTW - doing the reverse - running a Windows VM on Linux - is rather easy, and I have a couple of Windows 11 VMs running on my Mint desktop at home, as I need Windows for work.

Install Linux distro's on hyper-v fails - dell precision laptop- Light Display Manager

I run Hyper-V at work. Never could get Linux to run properly with it. We only have one Linux (Debian) sever and it is on a physical machine. Not saying it can't be done, just saying it never worked properly in our shop. There is a Microsoft learning article with a lot of best practices in it...

Re: modern MacBook with Debian (MX) Linux - choosing

I can say that I installed it on a 2015 MBP. I encountered no issues whatsoever. Well, I take that back. Occasionally it would fail to boot properly, and I had to hold the power button down until it shut down and then restart it. Otherwise, I think it ran better than when it had MacOS on it...

    PopOS

Those Thelio Miras are gorgeous machines. If I didn't already have a beast of a Lenovo (ThinkStation P920) I would def get one of those. It'll probably be a couple of weeks by the time they build and ship across the country, but I'll let you know. I had better be blown away after what I paid! :)

    PopOS

I just ordered an Oryx Pro from System76 yesterday, so I'm excited to see how this all works out. I have used Pop_Os in the past on a non-System76 machine and it worked fine. If I don't like it I can always put another distro on there. Yes, that 14th generation I9 processor costs a pretty...

    Debian Backup Software

Can someone recommend a good backup software for use on Debian 12? Something other than TimeShift. We are using TimeShift to backup up system configs, but I am looking for something that can back up file shares to network area storage and work scheduled (e.g. daily) and unattended (no one...

    Greetings

Hey thanks - I'll check that out! I recently stood up a Debian server as a file share, so this may come in handy.

    Greetings

I do like Debian, so I might just give that a look after v6 is available.

    Greetings

Been around computers professionally since dinosaurs roamed the earth, but always on the Microsoft side. I have tried various Linux distros over the years, but there was always that one driver missing, or clunky interface, or something that made me not want to stick with it. Probably been 10...
