    Problem with gcc compiler

Ensure that you have the the highest version of gcc that Slackware 15 is using at this time and glibc as well. https://slackbuilds.org/repository/15.0/system/chrpath/?search=glibc If your make file is hand written make sure it's not broken. Pat recommends using clang if your gcc 11 is buggy...

Need help installing new mouse pointer

Like you I down loaded the pkg Gamma.Gold and moved it to my /usr/share/icons directory with elevated privileges and it works on my Debian 12 Mate stable install. It shows in the Custome Theme window and the working Gamma Gold mouse pointer is shown to the right above 'Screensaver'. See the...

Any members here from around the LA area?

A very devastating and tragic situation. I called a friend of mine that lives there and I haven't gotten an answer. I hope they are ok.

Need help installing new mouse pointer

For a sanity check I went back to the Pling page here: https://www.pling.com/s/Cinnamon/p/1171471 If the install script was ran (which you didn't mention if you had) would then copy the necessary files to “~/.icons/Gamma.Gold” and establish symbolic links to the cursor files. Then the man...

Need help installing new mouse pointer

Gamma.Gold is a cursor theme friend from the Pling website for the Cinnamon desktop.:) What I don't get @f33dm3bits is the cursor theme (Gamma.Gold) that our op would like to use is already in his Downloads directory. When he moved it to his /usr/share/icons/ directory the Linux Mint Settings...

Need help installing new mouse pointer

In post # 7 I see that Gamma.Gold and it's tar are without a doubt in your Downloads directory. I've had trouble with cursor themes before and I dealt with it in 2 ways. First I would cd into the Downloads directory w/o root privileges and type ls to list in the command-line what's in that...

Need help installing new mouse pointer

No need to open Downloads as root when just viewing what's in the directory. You'll need root privileges when it's time to move the cursor theme from the Downloads directory to the /usr/share/icons/ directory. The more you do stuff with Linux the easier things get. And, an education too.

Need help installing new mouse pointer

You're welcome.:) You did this right you just forgot the forward slash that should be in front of the usr directory. The command-line is case sensitive to say the least. This is what you ran: gryphon777@amd-ThinkPad-P17-Gen-1:~/Downloads$ sudo mv Gamma.Gold usr/share/icons Try again but this...

How To Install A Higher Version of the Kernel, Build/Compile and Make the System Used It

Wow! What a mess:- The forthcoming on that is worth more than diamonds. Like you I've been bitten a a handful of times with Linux and the config's on some things. Not a fun place to be however; we do learn from our shortcomings and mistakes. And, the good news from that is we tend to not rinse...

How To Install A Higher Version of the Kernel, Build/Compile and Make the System Used It

I've got Virtual Boxed installed on my Debian 12 install. I'll use Debian 12 in the vm to install/compile and build the new kernel. I'll have to follow these instructions the two of you have given me, from the laptop as the Debian 12 host is on my Asus Tuf Gaming Desktop. I'll let you know how...

How To Install A Higher Version of the Kernel, Build/Compile and Make the System Used It

Passing a parameter using Dracut sounds good however; I'll use "update-initramfs" first and see how that fairs. I found the Intel wifi6 driver's for Linux so that's done....that is 'if' I need one for the mobo/chipset of his choice. Glad I'll need less patches with higher versions of the...

How To Install A Higher Version of the Kernel, Build/Compile and Make the System Used It

I've copied and pasted both of your helpful instructions.:) Vim is handy when you don't have a lot of time. I'll go through these instructions at least once in a vm before installing kernel 6.12 on my friends new build. Question----------- @dos2unix ....if there are any patches to this new...
