    Suse can kill HD

The SSD in this incident is not even hefty enough to be a paperweight. :p I pick up TB drives all the time. Usually OEM packed. Always have, got 2 empties 1 TB and 1 500 Gb, just sitting. I guess you could call me a file hoarder. Comes from years of running a BBS in the 90's. Threw a 30 gal tub...

Thanks Nelson for the info... I have 6 other SSD's Micro Center usually has the 120's for under 20.00 along with 5 dollar Pi Zero W's. Grab when there. They have worked so far. Difference is all others I have are made in Taiwan. The one that croaked was made in China. I was kinda being...

    Suse can kill HD

The drive was used in a 3 month time frame and only occasionally. So number of writes not an issue. Not with an SSD that I installed peppermint on and used that laptop about 5 times since just updating. As I said maybe the drive was not the best 12 bucks on Amazon for a 128 Gb SSD. Soooo...

    Suse can kill HD

So had Peppermint running just fine on a year old HP laptop. Switched out the 500 Gb drive with a 128 Gb SSD. Peppermint installed and has been on for 3 months. Not a laptop I use all the time. Tried OpenSuse the other day. Opps. Installed from USB, install went just fine, until reboot. Drive...

What are you using your single-boards for?

Forgot one. Was at Micro Center, they had the PiTop for sale on the clearance rack for 35 bucks. So I has a 14 inch monitor self contained Pi B+ also installed a 3-5v amp and some small speakers inside. And then there is the original 3B+ in a wire framed tilting mount, that I made with the 7...

The Linux software that users should know about

With MicroCenter 16gb USB drives at 5 bucks at register, I just put ISO's on their own. I can always MintStick them back if they get screwed up. Go a little 2 drawer plastic dollar store desk container full of them. My only problem is remembering what I got on which.

    New old guy.

Yeah think I was also Redhat from Linux for Dummies. Got the Penguin bug, then CD's from Linux mags. Then finally cable modem speeds, then downloading. Now on Main desktop, Win10 o_O (still have stuff only on MS) I run VM and try out a lot of Distros.

    Dell Inspirion 11 3000

Was delighted that even the touch screen works. So far I wipe out all the MS links and G links Libra and Firefox on any and all Linux. Love MintStick as well it restored a Win10 recovery 32g USB drive. Even WIN wont reformat. :)

    New old guy.

Yeah...for 250.00 picked up a 40 on a controller card, formatting made it 32 MB. Still have that thing today. Then a few years later at a convention, bought a 250 MB for 250.00. Picked up a 1 TB WD OEM at MicroCenter last month for 19.95.

    New old guy.

Been playing with PC's since 1990, with a first IBM running at a whopping 12 MHz. 640 ram, dual disk drives no hard drive. Building them since 1994. Using Linux off/on since 1998. All my laptops, have 4 now, run Linux distros. Mint on 2 HP's Peppermint on a dell and Alienware older laptops. And...

    Dell Inspirion 11 3000

Picked up a Dell Inspirion 11 3000 for $100.00. Windows 10 would get me to the Sign in screen then restart. Took 5+ times almost everytime. It also has a tablet mode, touch screen... The touch worked well. Wiped and installed Peppermint Linux. Said to myself, don't really need the touch, all...
