Problems with Balena Etcher's PPA ?

Just downloaded and installed balena etcher from Linux Lite 5.4 repository. I wonder if balena etcher from the distro's repository is an oem version which may or may not get updated through distro update manager. I've seen very few distro's that even offered balena etcher as available...

Problems with Balena Etcher's PPA ?

I don't know if balena-etcher updates but I disable these settings. "Anonymously report errors and usage statistics to balena.io". "Auto-updates enable".

Problems with Balena Etcher's PPA ?

Only reason to upgrade to a newer version of balena etcher would only be for security reasons. If ya got a good working secure version of balena etcher than no reason to upgrade to a newer version because newer versions can sometimes be problematic. Newest ain't always the best from my experience.

Problems with Balena Etcher's PPA ?

Yep I use the AppImage and turn off any auto updates and anonymous reports. Regardless of what user's think user data / user information is being collected it's the way of today's world. https://www.balena.io/etcher/

    4GB Ram is enough?

Yep LXLE / LXDE desktop is a thing of the past and replaced by LXQT. I like LXQT however even LXQT is becoming resource heavy and uses more system resources than Xfce. All of my Linux computers are old Frankenstein computers pieced together from many other old outdated discarded computers. Ya...

    4GB Ram is enough?

Welcome aboard @brickwizard. Yep Cinnamon desktop has become bloated and slower (good old Gnome3) which is the reason I prefer Xfce. Peppermint 9 and Peppermint 10 are excellent distros use them myself.

    4GB Ram is enough?

Almost 15 years old ( 09/18/2006) and still kicking butt running LMDE4. It ain't no speed racer but it runs great and no problems streaming YouTube videos or movies and can have several windows open and not a glitch.

    Online Video Buffering Issues

Check with AT&T and see if fiber internet is available in your area. I upgraded from copper wire telephone and DSL twisted pair internet to fiber internet and VOIP telephone and have better service for less money. 100 Mbps up. 100 Mbps down. If you're using a wireless wifi adapter that can...

    4GB Ram is enough?

I run Linux on old junk box computers (2007 / 2010 / 2013) with dual core processors / integrated graphics adapters / 4.0GB of memory and mechanical hard drives. I can have several tabs open plus Youtube and not run out of memory. To utilize low spec computers a user must use a Linux distro...

I Called it the MX Box

MX Linux always does a smart check on the hard drive upon installing. All it's telling you is there are a few sectors that have failed on that hard drive and have possibly been reallocated. I wouldn't worry about it as I've had the same error when using MX Linux and Antix Linux. Just keep...
