Still trying to get SBX AE-5 sound card to work!

I really appreciate all of your hard work in trying to solve this problem! I don't understand a whole lot, but I did try the code you posted but got this: bash: syntax error near unexpected token `0x1102,' ( whatever that means!). Also, I thought I had the newest kernel just installed yesterday...

Still trying to get SBX AE-5 sound card to work!

I already had pulse volume control. I will list here all that you asked for (and probably some things you didn't ask for!) To answer your question, I don't need a sound card, it's just a personal preference of mine and has been for years.

Still trying to get SBX AE-5 sound card to work!

I hope this is what you mean! I do see something there that is very puzzling...I DO NOT have the SB Recon 3D card installed! My card is the SB X AE-5. I don't get it [email protected]:~$ inxi -v 5 System: Host: brenda-MS-7752 Kernel: 5.4.0-84-generic x86_64 bits: 64 compiler: gcc v...

Thank you for your reply but I am completely new to Linux and although I did follow the link you posted, I have no idea what it all means or what I am to do! Forgive my ignorance!

Still trying to get SBX AE-5 sound card to work!

No sir, it's definitely not an onboard sound card! I purchased it several years ago to replace the SB Recon 3D sound card. I did check the Driver Manager and the only drivers that are showing are for my Nvidia graphics card. Thanks anyway

Still trying to get SBX AE-5 sound card to work!

I have searched the internet but as yet, have not been able to find anything to help me (at least not anything that I can understand!). I have the SBX AE-5 sound card installed on my desktop computer with Logitech 5.1 surround speakers but I am only able to get sound out of two satellite...

    Sound issue

What an imbecile I am! Thank you. Maybe if I would take the time to read more carefully, I might be able to figure some of these things out myself! Anyway, I was able to select my sound card, however, I'm still only getting sound out of the subwoofer and two satellite speakers (sigh)

    Sound issue

Well, I didn't think I'd be back here so soon, but here I am! This time, the issue is with my desktop computer running Linux Mint 20.2. I have a Sound Blaster X AE-5 sound card installed and I'm using a Logitech 5.1 speaker system. I'm only getting sound from the subwoofer and two rear satellite...

Thank you. Unfortunately, the Pulse Audio control didn't solve the problem. Thank you for your time anyway.

    Sound issue

I have Just recently switched from Windows 11 to Linux Mint 20.2 on my MSI GP62 7REX LEOPARD PRO laptop. When I was using the Windows OS, I was able to use my Logitech 2.1 speakers and they worked perfectly only using the headphone output --- since that's all that's available on the laptop...

Complete novice with a major problem!

Well sir, what I decided to do was just go ahead and get rid of Windows and try to learn this Linux thing. I really do like it, there is just so much I really don't understand --- most of the terminology is foreign to me, but I'm determined to learn it! Thank you for your response

Thank you for the reply, though admittedly, I don't really understand most of what you were trying to tell me. Anyway, I just gave up last night and decided to just completely start over, forget Windows, and stick with Linux mint!
