When I look for wifi it does not show any networks to connect to. I have 2 different wifi's, a 2.4 and a 5g and neither show up. In fact there are...

    Baffled about Q4OS wifi

You are absolutely right, and I did. I went with Manjaro. Debian 10 works fine and has a wifi step in setup that works fine. Debian 11 is not there yet.

    Baffled about Q4OS wifi

That is the firmware I had downloaded from Intels sight but couldnt copy it anywhere. Permission denied. I never read anything about a blob. I had the same problem trying to install Debian 11.0 The Debian installer said I was missing a list of wifi firmwares like and including -46.ucode and...

    Baffled about Q4OS wifi

The kernal in Q4OS is 4.19 and when I go to Intels web site for the Linux drivers my AX200 wifi card need at least 5.4 or something like that. My wifi card isnt supported in Q4OS. Bummer. I must say though that the...

    Baffled about Q4OS wifi

I ran a live usb of Q4OS and liked it so i installed it. I cant find a setting that detects my wireless choices at all. I had to connect to my cell phone hotspot to get internet and of course it was "dial up" slow. As I speak I am on Kubuntu (like it!) which i am running along side windows 10. I...

    Photorec recup_dir files unremovable

I recently used Photorec Testdisk to recover some files from a 5 TB portable drive. It left several hundred recup_dir files in my home directory and I cant get rid of them no matter how hard I try i just get "access denied" in some way or other. I was able to copy them to another drive. I no...

    Boot order and bootloader editing

OK. I pulled the drive out and installed Solus on the second drive. For fun I put my main M.2 drive in an external enclosure that looks like a jumbo USB drive with a cable for Type C and a cable for USB 3.2 . Keep in mind that Linux Mint was installed after Windows but modified in the efi...

    Boot order and bootloader editing

So I looked into efibootmgr. Installed it to Mint ( which shows up in my Bios boot options as Ubuntu TWICE ) and Thanx to a "linuxbabe" link in google search I also learned how to change the boot order. That was quite interesting. Now it boots directly to Windows and my "F11" will give me the...

Two separate drives, 1 linux second drive, 1st drive Windows 10

A fun find. After doing a fresh install of Win 10 on another drive I was able to go into the bad drive and retrieve all my stuff. I then did a long format of that drive and cloned the current drive back to my original drive. I then installed Mint on the same drive w windows (this I really like)...
