Screen tearing when watching videos and scrolling...

Alright, guys, thank you all so much for the help. I learned a lot, but alas, it was all for naught. Unfortunately, after trying out 4.4, 4.2, and 4.0 that have the 4.15 kernel and even trying out 3.8 which had the 4.04 (if I remember right) kernel, it still had the screen-tearing. Every time I...

I haven't actually "installed" anything, just been using the preview to see how my desktop handles it. I'll try disabling hardware acceleration, too.

Yes, with Firefox. Every time I change layers.acceleration.force-enabled to "true" and try to restart Firefox, it does that weird freeze/crash. Is there any way get out of that frozen screen without having to reboot the whole desktop? Reading some articles and Reddit forums about screen...

Screen tearing when watching videos and scrolling...

Ok, guys, I did the "Try Linux" option for 4.4, but screen tearing was still happening a lot when watching videos on YouTube and I didn't get very far because it kept crashing (see attached photo). Any idea what it's called when it does that?

Do you think Linux Lite 4.4 will work with the 304.137 Legacy Driver? I downloaded Ubuntu 18.04, unfortunately, it wasn't the OS I was looking for and have gotten used to. I figured out that it's Linux Lite that I'm looking for that I really liked. However, when I tried to download Linux Lite...

One more question: Do all versions of 18.04 (ex: 18.04.2, 18.04.4, 18.04.6) come with the kernel 4.15 or just the first 18.04? I can only find 18.04.6. http://releases.ubuntu.com/18.04/ If I need the very first 18.04, anyone know where I can download it?

Thanks for the info! I'll look into doing that! Question, though: Is the 4.15 kernel on the 20.04.2 version? I currently have 20.04.3 with the 5.4 kernel installed.

I watched that Linus Tech Tip video of one of his employees building her own desktop and that made me realize that building my own is not an option for me, lol. So, yeah, one already made would be ideal. The one I have now was $500 when I bought it in 2011, so something around that price would...

Unfortunately, I can't open nvidia-settings because my desktop is using a Linux driver; not Nvidia's proprietary driver. Here's a screenshot:

So I might just get a new desktop. It's time, lol. After researching this problem elsewhere online, I know to avoid any desktop with Nvidia graphics cards. With that being said, what brand of graphics cards should I look for in a desktop? I heard AMD works really well with Linux OS.
