Update on DIscord. I tested it on Linux, and was not having any problems running it. However, the problem still persists on WIndows. Why, I don't know. It will run for a while, then I sound like a chipmunk...drivers, maybe? Still planning a new build in the near future.

    ASUS Xonar SE

Hello! You may have already solved this problem, but anyway...I'm new to Linux (currently testing Mint to see how it works), and normally run Windows 7. I recently bought an Asus Xonar AE card, because my onboard sound quit. It seems to be running ok, although I am still trying to learn how to...

Buying a new Computer/Laptop - Avoid screen tearing (and some more)

Just a thought...I have been doing gaming for many years, and have always ran a separate video card. I can get rid of the screen tears by using vsync. Have you considered going to a video card like an nVidia GTX1050? That would help with performance, and free up your memory, since you would be...

New to Linux - Need Guidance

Yes, this is a mid tower, full ATX, which I built. I have been building my own for some time now, this one about 4 years ago. Time for an upgrade...I play flight sims, such as IL2 1946 and IL2 Battle of Stalingrad. A nice upgrade will give my graphics a good boost, especially with a better video...

Ok, I have Discord up and running on Linux. Working ok so far, except for very low mic volume...not sure how to fix that yet. Everything looks like it is turned up. May be something I missed. As for the board, I am now having trouble with mouse lockups. I had a few of these with Linux, but now...

New to Linux - Need Guidance

I looked at how to install DIscord on Linux. I saw that the Discord site had a downloadable package, but I also saw instructions on how to install it from the command line in Mint. Would using the command line be the best way? Thanks, Olds

New to Linux - Need Guidance

Looked for information on how to test the mic. Found a lot of information on using the commands to do this. I also looked in the Software Manager for audio programs like a voice chat. I found a program called Audacity, which is supposed to be for recordings, I think. I am downloading it right...

New to Linux - Need Guidance

Just saw your post, Wiz. I do have persistence set, and am running on a 32 gig stick. IIRC, I did set the persistence at 4 gb. I will look at the other solutions tonight. Thanks for all your help.

New to Linux - Need Guidance

I did hit launch, and this is what I got. Could it be because I am still running off of the USB drive, and not on a hard drive? I'll try again tomorrow.

Ok, I have been through the various commands, and I am not getting the results you show. Not sure what I am doing wrong. Here is a screenshot. As you can see, my screens don't look like yours. I did try the terminal, but didn't have much better luck. I would like to know how to get the...

Is there a gui or command in Mint to open up Alsa? As I said, I can see the entries listed as installed, but I don't know how to run them.

I went in to look for Alsa on Linux Mint, and found the entries. They look like they are already installed, however. If they are, how do I get to these applications to use them?
