    Intel RST

I'm far from an expert. This is just my recent experience. I have a 2-3 year old Lenovo with Windows 10 and Optane which uses RST. I recently installed a spin of Fedora Workstation to dual boot. After having to disable Optane in the BIOS it installed just fine. The strange part is that the RST...

    Linux Malware

My question was intended to be open ended mostly to find out if the current state of malware and bad actors was causing any increased concerns or changes in standard practice. For instance, does improving capabilities of AI cause any new concerns? Also, to be a bit more specific, should I be any...

    Linux Malware

Are malware attacks against Linux OSs on the upswing? I did a search of this forum and there don't appear to be any current discussions about this. A general web search finds some headlines such as this...

    Understood. Thanks.

    Irritating Mouse

As I said above, I started out with one that uses a dongle (RF signal, I think). That dongle messes with computer sleep mode. That is why I went for a BT mouse. The mouse I'm now using can be used either way.

This is the way it has always been. The key symbol means it is paired. The check symbol means it is trusted. This was done in the GUI above, not on the CL. Thanks.

    Irritating Mouse

OK. I don't have the ability or knowledge to mess with systemd services. So, I'll just live with it. Not a real big deal. Maybe some day, after an update, it will just magically start working without the glitch .:) Thanks again for the comments.

    Irritating Mouse

I appreciate all of the comments. It appears that programmers still have some work to do. The dongle is not really an option for me as long as it continues to interfere with sleep mode. It causes the computer to awake from sleep a short time after closing the lid. Then, I return with the...

    Irritating Mouse

I'm using the internal bluetooth adapter. Paring occurred without issue when I first got the mouse. The issue now is that sometimes the adapter doesn't wake up after starting the computer from sleep mode. However, once the adapter wakes and the mouse reconnects (instantly), it will lose its...

Sorry. I think you have misread my issues. Please tell me what is unclear and I'm happy to clarify.

    Irritating Mouse

This mouse can be used either way, but I'm using it paired up with a bluetooth connection. I used to use a usb dongle, but somewhere along the way there started to be a conflict with the computer sleep function. For some reason, the dongle would keep the computer from staying in the sleep mode...

    Irritating Mouse

This is a very minor irritation, but I would like to find an answer if there is one. I recently purchased a Bluetooth mouse that I like very much. When I first got it, it worked great. Sometime later, it started having problems in two ways: Sometimes, when the computer laptop awakes from sleep...

    Grsync Issue

    Grsync Issue

The chown command ran and appeared to do it's job. However, I still cannot create a new file there. A message says that the file system is read only. With Nemo, I can check any file or directory and the properties say that I am the owner (same as before) and that I have read-write privileges...

    Grsync Issue

If I understand "touch" correctly, I can put the cursor on openable files like .jpg and select them and open them. Followup: I just did a grsync backup to a different external drive and it worked perfectly (at least it said it did. I haven't try a recovery). I guess my "bigstick" external drive...

    Grsync Issue

I couldn't figure out how to insert the -O switch into the graphical grsync interface. So, I did it from the command line. Same or similar result. Many failures and most, if not all, had a statement regarding being a read only file system. I have checked permissions on several and none appear to...

    Grsync Issue

Thanks. I may do this. For now, I would like to find out what is going on with grsync. I read a little about foxclone and it reommends not using it for primary backup. I don't know why. Not sure if the same was said about redobackup.

    Grsync Issue

I'm trying to do a backup prior to upgrading to Fedora 38. I have used Grsync before with no issue, but now all I get is an errors list. I am attempting to backup to an external drive named Bigstick. The first error in the list reads: rsync: [generator] failed to set times on...
