Hey ya'll; I'ma keep this short and sweet in this one. But I wanted to drop a line (and a bit of a shameless plug) in hopes that I can help new users who have heard of "Hyprland" but been intimidated by it's more "advanced" requirements feel more comfortable dipping their toes into the Hyprland ecosystem.

This is just a laid back chill guide that I primarily made for my son; but so far the responses have been very supportive and positive in nature; so here's to hoping those interested find something useful here.

Definitely consider checking out Hyprland ! Hands down the coolest compositor out there!

Man, I can't tell you what a journey it's been!

A few months ago, a solid user here on the forums recommended I look into Hyprland. I was using KDE Plasma at the time as I was fond of it's aesthetic functionalities. Fine brother man, I'll check it out.

Maybe I should kick him? Because now I'm a hopeless addict....
At the risk of sounding melowdramatic, Hyprland is quite literally changing my life.

Prior to hyprland I'd dabbled in some bash and python, but nothing serious. Some simple utilities for back up here, a doodadd thingy majig there; but usually I'd only make what I was makin before bouncing back to just "using" my desktop rather than developing anything of any kind.

Today, i've got nearly 200 hours invested into polishing up my bash scripting skills specifically for the purpose of building my own theme switcher. This is my theme switcher, there are many like it, but this one is MINE!

I'm slowly but surely burning Bash fundamentals into my brain so to become quite fluent in bash scripting and it's rather exciting to me.

Initially I knew "how" to make things work, but it always felt SO exhausting to type everything out line after line after line. That's when variables really started to click for me.

Initially when building my theme switcher I would define all directories and paths individually based on my needs; but by the time I was done, I was able to condense dozens, if not hundreds of lines of code by more or less "chain-linking" relevant variables, enabling me to change an entire theme by simply changing a single variable at the start of the configuration.

As a result, I've been able to build a solid template system that allows me to copy/paste a the template theme directory, modify about 4 variables, add my choice images and append the required keybinds to add the theme to my arsenal of available themes; all at the press of a button.

Eager to see how far Hyprland will take me, and how long it will continue to inspire me to improve, and to do my best in taking those interested along the way.

Thanks for following my journey !

Thanks be to the little bird that turned me onto it! Turned me into an addict n what not o_O;)

After releasing my previous "teaser" trailer, I felt it was far to insufficient quality for what I was aiming for. So I sunk 24 hours into laying out the ground work and the polish to suit my tastes. I'm not sure I've worked on anything this hard in a hot second.

Coming soon. A complete OVERHAUL of The Noobs Guide to Hyprland (V2.0), plus an Extensive Theming guide!

I'm getting so much closer to the "Noobs Guide to Hyprland" OVERHAUL and I can almost taste it!

Thanks to a user inquiry in my discord regarding the ability to use wofi to switch active windows; they were lead to believe thanks to the good ol' internet in that age old tale "it's impossible".

Where there's a will, there's a way!

My son felt it was time for me to update folks on the progress of the project.
