It doesn't recommend a single distro that I use on a daily basis for desktop use. Still, someone else may find it interesting, or at least amusing.

Probably I mean the questions seem to be pretty much generic.

Among the recommended distros for me was LFS.

I install my software from the terminal because it's easier - not because I want to compile everything.

Pegged me for an Arch user and also a LFS which seems to be the standard answer for me and these surveys.

I've played with (and successfully done) both LFS and BLFS but they're way more effort than I wish to invest.
