Arduino - What do I need to know?

Feels like a silly question, but please bear with me. In anticipation of receiving my first Elagoo Arduino starter kit, I've installed Arduino IDE. Are there any driver issues I need to know about?

I'm kind of excited about this, having always had interest in electronics and robotics. I'll be a kid in a candy store in a few days.

If anyone can suggest a better IDE for linux. I believe there are none. and I'm wondering how to use "Geany" as IDE. There are also some "dark themes" on github which some of them are very useful.
the official repo version of IDE is outdated. and the starter kits are for kids and overpriced. The CH430 or 340 ( don't know which one!) clones are as expensive. There are much better boards. And one day I saw a hobbyist using AVR and seemed OK with it and recommended it for the price. the UNO kit (kid) u got is good when u want to attend a class.
