Hi everyone,
I have a friend who wants to become a Linux convert - IF - I can steer him to the most suitable one for doing photographic work,
I know that GIMP is the main app for working on photos, but is there one distro that is better than the rest for that.
I do thank you in advance.

Thanks a bunch @arochester for the quick response.
I have sent this on to my friend for his perusal.
I'll let you know how this all ends up.

Hi 70 TC probably list what he normally does and what software he uses , is it stills or also video editing .

There is Linux software alternatives and they are common to nearly all Distro

i've got GIMP 2.10 ;so far my nephew who sears by photoshop has not done anything that I can't do with gimp. For video editing i used to use openshot but now have gone for cinelerra

Nothing about video came up in our conversation, so I ass-u-me that it's strictly stills.
Am I right then to guess that almost any Lin Distro will work fine?
Thanks to you also.

GIMP must be almost universal in availability across all distros i reckon
