Building A New Version of The XFCE DE or Any other DE

Not really sure where to go to learn how to build a new XFCE desktop envirnment or any other desktop envirnment for that matter.

@TuxBot can you direct me to where I could learn how to build or rebuild the XFCE desktop environment along with all of it's library's from source code?
