If the update has come through your distribution update manager then Yes it's safe

That update came through Linux Mint on the 14th March.
It is fine.
I rarely, if ever, look at what the various updates are about and whether they have a changelog or not
I have Timeshift running and taking a snapshot each and every day
Any grumbles from anywhere....including me screwing things up.....
Restore to the day before. 6 or so clicks and it's all done.
