I've the new server installed with redhat, and assigned only one private IP 192.168.170.3 to this server.

The workplace where the server is located in provides no wired internet connection but wireless one.

Other than redhat, a specific application has to install in the server, but it says dependencies/packages are needed while installing. The way by which i choose to install those is use yum.

My question then comes, yum works only over a network connection, but the server has no internet access..

I have a laptop with me and wirless internet connection. Can I connect it to the server with cat5e ethernet calble, then telnet using putty, and finally use yum to install those dependencies/packages?

I wonder if this works?
