Hi there
i have P4 old pc that has NVIDIA 7200 GS i tried this gpu on my main pc (i3-4160) and i could acess to linux (i use USB) but when i put the gpu on the P4 it shows like this :
i have linux mint xfce (correct if i am wrong but this is the fastest distrubution and interface i can intall on p4 ?)
i have mint xfce installed on P4 i could only use it without the gpu the reason why i want the gpu to work is that i cant watch youtube videos with P4 so i thought if i can make the gpu work it will help me watch YT videos

If you have a terminal enter inxi -G [inxispace-G] copy and past the result back here..MAKE sure the graphics card is installed correctly first

the P4 will be 32 bit machine max ram is probably 2gb [depending on make/motherboard]
mint XFCE is fairly quick Mx-i386 is a little quicker and debian stable 32 bit a bit faster still,

On Mint there should be Driver Manager open that up and let it search for additional drivers and install them - also do run
Code:
inxi -G
or
Code:
inxi -Fx
as brickwizard suggest - need to check which P4 you have - a Northwood P4 is 64Bit a Willamenne P4 is 32Bit - so if yours is a Willamenne P4 then Linux Mint 20.2 will not work, you will have to get a Debian based 32Bit OS - like Debian, MX Linux or Linux Mint DE does have a 32 Bit

Generally you can just tap the F12 key to bring up a one time boot menu instead of changing the bios tap the F12 key when it starts to boot the select your USB Drive. The above pic is not much help - sorry

the inxi shows no driver installed, and the bad pict is fall back mode [generic drivers used by the bios for boot] in mint open menu go to all and scroll down to additional drivers open and let it run [i think it will need legacy drivers... ]

good morning, my thoughts for the day..

Graphic card first, are all the contacts in good order and no damage of any sort

P4, are the contacts on the slot you are using clean bright and free of any dust etc
do you have a second slot you can try the card in?
can you increase the ram to 2 gb [probably the max for the motherboard]

now out of the box.... there is one build of linux especially developed to resurrect ancient kit to supply cheap computers to third world schools it contains drivers for almost anything from 486 and onward, it is the largest download you will encounter for any linux of around 4gb, being designed as an educational program it will need some tweaking, and because of the amount of software is not quick to load.. http://dl.emma-de4.emmabuntus.org/

im pretty sure that i need to do it manually so i downloaded
https://www.nvidia.com/Download/driverResults.aspx/123708/en-us
probleme is after i do
chmod +x NvidiaDriver.run
sudo ./NvidiaDriver.run
i get : "you do not appear to have an nvidia gpu supported ...."
any solution plz
1)right click the .run file select properties then click on permissions tab and put a check mark in "Allow this file to run as program" and close
2)right click again (not on the file but an empty space) and open terminal in download folder then it should be
Code:
 sudo ./NVIDIA-Linux-x86-304.137.run
your syntax is incorrect and you should not have to chmod also

This article may be salient, and *should* be true for Mint users - as long as it's not LMDE.
