the phantom Linux killer of old Microsoft strikes again,

I am out most of today, so, installing Microsoft over Linux Kills the Linux grub always install windows first then Linux to avoid the problem, if you jiggle the short boot menu [usually F12 but makes differ] as you switch on the machine,and select the USB ,it should boot from there, also check your BIOS setting and make sure USB is first boot option,

,

and turn off fast/quick boot if it turned on in the bios.

A download didn't modify this USB Ventoy drive all by itself, not even because it was about Windows 7...

It depends on how it was downloaded. There are many ways some downloads can modify files and filesystems.
At the very least it would change the used and free space on the drive.

Windows 7 is no longer available from an official source (Microsoft) - the only things out are may or may not be pirated, since it is not from Microsoft it will be hard to tell until you install it a virus scan may or may not detect manipulated files on the ISO

A couple of things to check:
1. Disable secure boot option in your BIOS.
2. Do not enable secure boot support option when you install Ventoy.

If still not work, try both MBR and GPT partition style when install Ventoy.

assuming the Windows 7 is legit and dropped into Ventoy it should boot with Ventoy if not then the Win 7 ISO boot loader is not correct and probably pirated

Ventoy works perfectly in Linux.

@f-16 welcome to linux.org

Aside from the fact that we do not provide support for Windows, we can not endorse using a version of Windows that reached its end of life several years ago, that would be irresponsible of us.

You may need to make inquiries of Ventoy or Windows themselves.

Do you actually run a Linux distribution, and if so please supply name and version number?

Cheers
