cinnamon-session-cinnamon [SOLVED]

You can setup wi-fi again now and remove the ethernet cable.

I don't currently have Mint installed, so I'll let the Mint experts take over now.

Glad it's working for you.
I was pretty sure when Wizardfromoz jumped in last night that network manager was gone.
Thank you for jumping in!

@confusion

Before you do another thing I encourage you to do this one thing so you'll have a way to fix or perform a fresh installation.

Download the .iso of Linux Mint 22 or some other Linux distro (Debian 12). You can use balena etcher or ventoy to put it on your usb thumb drive.

That way if things take a turn like this or similar in the future you'll have a plan.

Set up Timeshift as well, it's saved many of us from having to perform fresh installations and the like.

If you need help with Timeshift start another thread and we'd be happy to help.

Alright thanks

Do you have an external drive you can use ?

It is the best way to store snapshots from Timeshift, so they dont take up space on the main drive

Updates ...remember we were talking about the little 'shield' icon in the area down near the clock.

If you dont see it there, click on menu, type in Update Manager. Click it to open...then click on Refresh

It will show what updates available.....Install them ALL

If you get an error....stop there and tell us what the error said
