I dont have a Raspberry Pi, but I have setup Conky in the past. Good post, would definitely give it a try if I end up with a Raspberry Pi.

Manipulation of the colors was easy enough.
Finding that this Raspberry pi OS on a Linux kernel is probably the easiest platform to work with.

it looks better on the desktop:

I found MX Linux to be the best for running Conky. 1 HP laptop with Mint runs it. 1 Dual boot Win10 / Mint does not. Peppermint Linux Laptop don't like it.

Don't really need it at the moment on Pi's. 1 PiZero running MotioneyeOS cam on my driveway.
1 Pi 3B+ running ModBros. I 3A running Modbros another PC. 1 3A Running Virtualhere USB cam on my front door instead of Ring or such. 1 3B+ In a Tower speaker running Volumio.

I keep changing backgrounds and color schemes lol

Hmm... why use unstable when the Oem software is Debian and stable ? lol

Unstable is a bit of a misnomer. It's reasonably stable - but it has newer software in it, before the software makes its way to the stable build.

Because I like newer packages. Shiny.
