this used to work but now it doesn't anymore;

screenshot - paste into libre office writer

i wish linux would do a minimal amount of testing before releasing software

I usually take a screenshot, send it to desktop or pictures, and copy it from there to Liber writer

it was working before now it doesn't. i've been using it for a million years

why doesn't linux do any testing before releases?

That sounds like a LibreOffice thing and not a Linux thing. I doubt very much that the kernel is what's stopping you from doing this - and that's all that Linux is. Linux gets a bunch of testing.

@KGIII, I think it sounds like a 'marbles' thing

The OP has been avoiding giving us the info we need to do our work here, since Jan 3, 2023

He fails to realise that without that input from him, it becomes extremely difficult....bordering on impossible...to answer and solve his problems.

For example he may still be running a very early version of Linux....like 18.3 or 17.1....which of course no longer receive the necessary updates to keep them either secure or up to date.....So the operating system is out of date and so will the apps in it...be also out of date.....This includes Libre Office....quite possibly out of date and running in an out of date OS....makes the situation beyond help.

I do realise that it is hard for him to alter his habits, and that he is wary of disclosing information, but in this case the person being hurt is him.
It would be my guess that a new install is absolutely necessary, but is beyond his current ability to do that.

He actually needs one on one help. If we knew where he lived, a member from a Linux User Group would be ideal for him

Just a clarification of that.

I have established elsewhere that the OP is using one of the LM 20.x "U" series - Ulyana, Ulyssa, Uma, Una but he won't clarify for us. He is using LO 6.4.7.2 or thereabouts, which is as new as those distro releases can provide.

All of the options above (Mint version) are based on Ubuntu 20.04 'Focal Fossa', which will reach end of life on or after 20 April 2025. Mint support may extend as far as June 2025.

why doesn't libre office ever show up in my update list?

Did you install Libre office from their website ?

It has updated as far as it will go for the version of Mint that you are on.

Until you move to a newer version of Linux Mint, you will likely not receive any further updates for it.
