when installing oracle linux 7.9 why does it make the partition table here as msdos?

can i gpt this only after installation

I've never heard of OVM but my only guess would be that it uses the partition for something like lvm and it didn't mark that partition as an lvm partition type and just left it as "None" instead'.

I asked the question incompletely and incorrectly. I corrected it.

oracle linux 7 based system is being installed.

Because that's probably the default when you are booting a BIOS(non-UEFI) system if you choose the default partition setup? Try setting up a customized partition setup and see if you can create a GPT partition then with your partition setup.

Is there a reason you can't use 8 or 9? I guess 10 is officially released now.
You don't want to be using 7.9 because that version has been end of life for almost a year now.
