I use a laptop with core specifications i5-6200U @ 2.30 GHz, 4 GiB RAM.
For work I use Eclipse (2020-06, java 8) and Postgresql.
Can you recommend what distro I can use for programming?

Finding a distro with Java 8 will be the problem. Even Debian Bullseye only has 11-17 and postgresql-13.

java8 should be pretty much ubiquitous across linux distros , same for the database Postgresql . if i look at 2 (pole apart really) distro Slackware stable 4 year old https://slackbuilds.org/result/?search=eclipse&sv=14.2

and rolling bleeding edge https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/?O=0&SeB=nd&K=eclipse&outdated=&SB=n&SO=a&PP=50&do_Search=Go they both have Eclipse.

So its more a case of finding a distro that you find comfortable with and then just install whats required.
Thank you for your advice

probably the OP has java 8 on their eclipse ; but what they really are requesting (i guess) is cam i/we get latest eclipse with latest Java (what ever that is ) on Linux ?

Mine installed Slackware current is:

Code:
bash-5.0$ ls /var/log/packages | grep jdk
jdk-8u231-x86_64-1_SBo
bash-5.0$
i.e 8
