Used Rufus set up persistance usb for Peppermint. Laptop boots, got Run Live or install menu for Peppermint. In about 20 seconds it just stops. I had the ISO handy, got a bunch of USB drives had nothing to do. I might try again with another. Was just looking to put one distro on a thumb drive and be able to use a laptop without install in my pocket. First time trying Rufus. Guess I gotta play around a bit.

If Rufus is the reason for it just stopping maybe give Etcher a try.

Are you trying to dual boot alongside of Windows?
OR just trying Linux Live to see if you like Peppermint?

First time trying Rufus.

Some ISO do checksum counts. So it may not be Rufus's fault totally.
If you have to use Rufus, try DD mode instead of ISO mode.

First try with Rufus always have used Etcher. No dual boot, have Peppermint on 2 laptops. Mint on 2 others. Just rid another HP of Win10, Installed Mint. Used that, as I said got boot options menu for Peppermint, from the Thumb at boot, got about 20 seconds into running then stopped, can't remember the error.

When I get bored, was watching the Ohio State game, which I was watching on a TV thru HMDI from my Peppermint laptop, cable thru Firefox. So was at my desk, had to do something. Like I said First time using Rufus, have made LIVE DVD's of Distros.

Wanted Persistence formatted the USB with partitions, Rufus did all that.

If at first you don't succeed, get a bigger hammer. :p
