Hello All,

I'm curious if Firefox-ESR default browser and LibreWolf installed from a deb file can coexist together without any conflicts between them.

I also do not have a profile installed in Firefox-ESR as I have never needed one.

Linux distro is Peppermint Debian.

Thanks.

There does not appear to be a librewolf .deb for peppermint. There is, however, a .deb of librewolf for debian11 and ubuntu. The librewolf info page at https://librewolf.net/installation/debian says:
Attention. We only build LibreWolf for Debian 11, Ubuntu 20/21/22 and Mint 20.2/20.3. If you don't use one of those distros, the above commands will install the Ubuntu 20 build for you which may or may not work.
If the libreoffice .deb does work, it should not interfere with any other browser. The .deb file will have its own dependencies and it's own /home/<user>.librewolf config directory to manage its operation separate from any other browser or application. If it doesn't work, then alternatives are the appimage, flatpak or source mentioned here: https://librewolf.net/installation/linux.

That said, I run librewolf successfully on a debian "testing" box from the tarball from here: https://gitlab.com/librewolf-community/browser/linux/-/releases. It runs from my home directory, outside the package system so to update it I have to do that manually and keep and eye on new update releases. It has worked flawlessly. There is no interference with any other browser on the system, which also include brave, palemoon, ungoogled-chrome, tor, firefox and firefox-esr. As mentioned, it created its own /home/<user>/.librewolf directory which holds a set of files similar to the analogous firefox directory.

Thanks for the reply.

I've seen the different options to install LibreWolf and then ran across the deb file don't remember where I found it atm.

I've also considered install LibreWolf as an AppImage seems it may be a better choice since it can be integrate into the system.

I figured both browsers would install and work without conflicts.

Thanks. :)

G'day all, just moving this to General Computing because that is where Browser questions are best asked and answered.

Cheers
