Hello everyone, I have inherited a PC with the following features:
eMachines E525 32bit
Intel Celeron T3100 - 1.9 GHz - 800MHz - 1MB L3 cache
2 GB RAM

I would like to install Linux.
On another very old one I have Lubuntu and, all in all, it's fine.
Which distro do you recommend?
Lubuntu?
In fact I already have it installed (version 24.05) but the internet, with Firefox, works terribly. I don't know if it depends on the OS or Firefox (I don't know if there is a 32-bit browser).

It would be for my 11 and 13 year old children, so mainly for internet use (I don't think it can do much more...).

Thanks in advance.

I would give antiX a spin. or puppy. 32 bit limits your choices today. 2 gb ram is not much either.
But the two distros I mentioned should work well. you may want to also try a more lite weight browser for the web
This site has a list of them.

Welcome to the forums,
coo a very slow entry level CPU, still at least its twin core and 64 bit, and with 2Gb ram should run any medium weight 64 bit Linux, I suggest Mint LMDE, parrot home, peppermint or Linux Lite

Under Windows I use Rufus to create the installation USB
Even though I left Windows in a partition of the PC, I can no longer access it (not even by changing the boot order from the bios)
How can I create the boot USB of the new OS under lubuntu?
Etcher? Or terminal?

If you're running Linux then Etcher will probably be better, remember Win 32 bit has been discontinued for a few years now, and as a point Linux 32 bit is expected to reach its end of life next year. [Rufus can cause problems unless you use it in DD mode]
the machine was built as an entry level for 64 bit windows computing [although as a marketing ploy it came with 32 bit windows]

I believe on Lubuntu you should beable to install mintstick which will burn .iso's to usb also. Etcher is also good choice.

Hello,
I tried AntiX 23.2 Full (antiX-23.2_x64-full.iso from sourceforge.net) : I downloaded it, flash with Etcher (under Lubuntu), installed.

When I start thew computer there's the choice between the 2 OS (Windows and AntiX); Windows goes fine; if I chose Antix, the computer stop in a black screen and I have to forse it to shut down (pushing the start button for 3 seconds).

These are my installation choices (there are also the screenshots):
1) USE LEGACY KERNEL
2) NORMAL BOOT
3) CUSTOMIZE THE DISK LAYOUT (I want to keep Windows)
4) I CHOOSE THE sda3 and the "/" WITH / WITHOUT FLAG THE "ENCRYPT" AND "CHECK" BOXES (the result is the same: the AntiX OS doesn't start)
5) I CHANGE THE "LOCALIZATION DEFAULTS DATA AND CLOCK
6) I CHOOSE LOGIN NAME (I chose antix, like the OS...), ROOT ACCOUNT AND PASSWORDS

Then the installation is successful but when I shut down the computer, I remove the USB stick and start the computer, Windows starts, Linux AntiX not.

Did I make any mistakes?
What can I do?

EDIT

I can't install any OS; i tried with antix 32 bit and mint but something goes wring;
with antiX the installation process is completed but when I reboot the system, the computer stop on the black screen and the cursor blinking;
with mint, the installation process stop with Error no 20: Not a directory: '/run/live/medium/live/filesystem.packages-remove'
