Very old and Long, Long time Windows user who over the years has tried to work with Linux. I just installed the latest Mint version and have the same problem with adding shortcuts to the desktop. Why is it so damn convoluted? Are they ever going to adopt windows simple drag and drop method?

Click on Menu

Find the app/program you wish to have a shortcut to

Right click on it........then select "add to desktop" or add to task bar

OR

right click on the desktop

add the url of the place/site that you want to make the shortcut for

copy and paste the url of that site into the box........but before you do type the word Firefox (or chrome if you use that)....then leave a space and then copy paste the url in there

That should do it !

Hi, great solution. I re posted a moment ago that the answer just fell into my lap. I'm good to go for now. Thanks

Windows is not Linux.......and vice versa.

Old habits die hard.....but it can also be fun learning new ones. The satisfaction of new achievements keeps me with Linux (and a serious distrust of anything to do with Microsoft)
